Xbox freezing what do i do?

Last night I went to play gears 2 when my xbox froze, I reset it 8 times it kept freezing. Since then I've been too scared to turn it back on. No red rings just a whole lot of freezing whats going on?

inb4 buy new system

How long was your gaming session? could have been overheating

only about an hour before it froze the first time. That was my first guess but it didnt seem hot was gunna call microsoft but they would just tell me to unplug the cords and put them back in....nothing that would help.

and make sure it's on a surface that doesn't retain a lot of heat, like carpets and rugs :)

lol was waiting or someone to say that. but uhh my xbox is weird it doesnt work standing up only on the side somtimes. Ive had this thing since launch so i think it might RROD but i dont want it to :( i just bought another year of xbl last week its on the carpet, but i havnt had a problem till yesterday

did you recently try to put it on it's side? when I did that with mine, it RRoD on me

not trying to bea fanboy just thought it was funny (would not be surprised if someone else said the same thing and meant it lol)

but back to your problem is the system inside a cabinet or out in the open is on the ground if so under carpet or tile and i would not recommend you leave the system standing up i could be wrong but i feel that leads more more risk in scratching games and more wear and tear with the disc tray
