I have an older 360 and when i put in a game it trys to play it like a DVD. it comes up and says to play this put it in an xbox 360. The drive itself is also not working right when i hit eject the tray wont open sometimes or opens half way. i started getting this play dvd error a few months ago but it didnt happen that much, now it happens 100% of the time i can not play games anymore. what can I do to fix this problem and is it covered by microsoft so i can get a new one? i also had 2 red rings today but they went away, dont know what thats about.

Happened to my last Xbox. It got progressively worse over time. got to the point where it would take almost an hour to get a game going. GTA4 came out and I wanted to play it so bad I just went to the store and bought a new one. The disc drive is crapping out, it's only gonna get worse. If you're within a year send it to MS to get it fixed, if not, you gotta buy a new one. It's not covered under the 3 year extension.

i called that number, they told me to update my clock, the settings were set for 2005, and it was geting the error because the games were published in 2006+ so thats what he told me, it started to work when i changed it. Then i restarted the xbox and got the error message again. what he is telling me is that if it plays the game if i can get it to not get the error, then it isnt a problem with the drive. when i dont get the message it plays games fine. im geting confused he told me to cool the xbox down for a wile. its been used heavily sence 2006 so im thinking theres a lot of dust build up in there do you guys think a can of air blown in there could help? if not i wont bother to buy the air.
