In June of this year I bought a one month subscription off of Xbox Live and it still has not expired. It still remains a gold subscription, but I do not even pay for the extra months. I don't know why I keep getting extra months when I only paid for one in the first place.

Well SOMEONE is paying for the extra months, don't be surprised if a $50 charge shows up on your bill sometime in the future.

You should tell MS this, you could get in some serious trouble if they find out about it by themself.

How is it my fault for their fault? Literally, if they screwed up I can just point out that I had nothing to do with this situation. That really isn't considered lying, because I don't have an idea of what's going on here. I better go check the credit card bills right now, and then I'll decide what to do.

well if you paid by credit card they are charging you for it, you have to specifically ask them to stop the subscription

If you buy 5 apples from a grocery, and the clerk only charges you for 4 -- you're not stealing one apple.

But yeah, I agree to check your statement and see if they are charging a monthly subscription on your account. Even if it's not there, they may have the power to retroactively charge you for the service they provided. Really no clue ...

This has happened to two of my friends. All was fine and dandy.. until they got the bill which they had to pay. Seriously, i know it seems cool your getting free months and all, but on the off chance, MS could just be a little behind, but they'll catch up.

so if u only wanted one month why did u let the subscription keep going if u knew it should have run out, why didnt u call microsoft then? they have every right to punish you if you have infact been stealing their service. Once again yes, it is their fault, but u knew about the problem and chose to do nothing. Think of it this way, as an example, say you are building a bridge and you know that the supervisors forgot to put a support beam or bolt somewhere, but u chose not to tell them because it would mean you would have to work overtime for a while. You are still out fault for not pointing out the mistake

I don't buy my LIVE time with credit card, only LIVE cards. I recommend you all do the same. I do buy my Microsoft Points with my credit card though.

You may think you aren't paying anything for the extra months but if you bought the 1 month gold membership from Xbox Live you have bought yourself into a contract where they charge you monthly for your gold subscription until you cancel it, money could be going out of your account every month.

This is the truth ^^^^. You're on auto renewal my friend. It happened to me, I only just got out of it a week ago. When you purchase online, they put you down as renewing monthly. They're just taking your money every month.

It's not my fault, as I've said probably ten times, it's their fault. I wanted just one month of Gold, and they charged me for all of these extra months. Microsoft will do anything to get my cash, and even if that means stealing from one of their customers. I just wanted one, turns out they charged me for more without telling me.

It's not my fault, I'm just going to go and check my credit card bill for this month and get back to you all momentarily.

Did you buy the one month directly off the Xbox? or used a card bought from the store?

If you got it without the card, sadly, you will find the charges on your credit card, unless you had the 'Automatic Renewal' OFF.

So you bought it off Xbox.com? If so you must be using a credit card, you have to make sure you turn off the automatic renewal. Personally I never use credit cards to buy downloadable things on any of my systems. I just go to the store and get the cards there.

did you get that offer when they had "1 moth for £1" (or maybe $1 in us?). if you did, it clearly said on one of the screens that you must cancel before the month is over to avoid being charged again.

He's right. If you paid with a credit card, you've been automatically charged for each additional month. Don't blame Microsoft for being deceptive. It clearly states that you need to cancel your subscription before the end of the month or your card will be automatically charged.

Well this literally just happened to me with my debit card. I put my debit card in there to pay for it (15 of Sept) and it didn't charge until I switched cards because I didn't really wanna have Microsoft raid my house since my credit is already in the sh***er anyways. lol

you ARE partly to blame. honestly people kill me trying to play stupid when it comes to billing. just because you dont see a bill doesnt mean you shouldnt be charged for the service. if you had a one month free card and it expired a long time ago, dont complain when billing catches up to you although im sure youll play the stupid role and act like you didnt knwo youd be actually CHARGED FOR USING SOMETHING THAT EVERYONE ELSE PAYS FOR. seriously dude, stop trying to duke the system....

To be ethical, tell MS. But you won't get in trouble if they find out.

In June of this year I bought a one month subscription off of Xbox Live and it still has not expired. It still remains a gold subscription, but I do not even pay for the extra months. I don't know why I keep getting extra months when I only paid for one in the first place.

If you have a card on your xbox then you are most likly being charged

That is true!

Microsoft cleary states in the fine print, that the subsription will AUTOMATICALLY renew if you don't cancel. so it's not Microsofts fault, it's yours.

No, you bought one month, yet got load of more ones. You knew it was happening and didn't ract to it. It's like saying it's like saying that it's a banks fault because they wan't to have back those 2 millions dollars you took out while you meant to take out a 100 bucks.

You can't just ignore/ take advantage of the situation and and then blame the rest for noticing it.

exactly. you pay for using it just like everyone else chief. its only fair. and BTW it isnt stealing if youre USING THE SERVICE, its called BILLING.[/QUOTE

] Either he gets a bill, or i have to report him. The latter is up to him.

Well, actually he is, he did take advantage of it, and will either get a fine, probably all those extra months.
