Xbox live is a huge rip off.

internet cords are lik 15$ and the pro/elite comes with one wirless adaptors are 99$ which is a pain but it came out way before the wii and they didnt no it would be that neccary of a thing

I was considering geting xbox live.But after hearing all stuff i would have to do, i'm not paying the cheap guys at microsoft to play capture the flag on halo 3.gmc2u_64

And I don't see what the big fuss is really, all I had to do was connect an extra cable to my router and my 360 and boom, xbox live.

I have a Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360. Each of them connected to the internet. You can definitely TELL which one I'm paying for just by looking at the service you get. Xbox 360 has tons of DLC, more people, better service, quicker updates, etc.

Wii has NOBODY online unless you're playing Mario Kart, which thankfully is all I play. When I played GH3 online, I played the same guy 30 times, just trying to see if I'd play somebody new.

PS3 isn't too shabby, but it didn't have all that much compared to the 360. Plus, the guys with Rock Band have to wait a couple extra days for their updates. Which sucks! I want it when it comes out on Tuesday, not Thursday! Thank god I have the 360 version!

Finally, 50 bucks a year is nothing to complain about. If you can't afford that, how the hell do you have a 360 AND a Wii? Spoiled much? Go play your MarioKart online and I'll enjoy playing CoD4, Rock Band, GH3, Halo 3 and GTA IV online with better service. Oh and matchmaking, lobbies and voice chat. Thanks. $4.20 a month is NOT that much. Stop drinking starbucks for a day per month and you made your money back.

To answer your question about why it costs money:

Xbox Live Gold costs $50 a year. You can play online multiplayer games as often as you want, whenever you want. You can dowload demos, movies, TV shows, and arcade games. You can chat with friends (both in text and with voice). You can look at game leaderboards, you get news and updates about upcoming games. There are trailers, there are videos about how to get certain achievements. The amount of content on Xbox Live is amazing. That's why it costs money. If all you're complaining about is having to get a wireless adapter, that is your problem and is not a flaw in Xbox Live Gold.

All you need is a network cable to get online, and that comes with the pro and elite versions of the system. If you want or need to get online wirelessly than it is another $100. Live is less than $5 a month and that is not a bad deal. Honestly if you cannot afford $50 for 13 months than how do you buy games?

Help with your question? Your title of your topic was not a question, it was you bashing xbox live. And the problem isn't xbox live, it's your ISP. Get rid of them and get cheaper internet per month. 50 dollars a year isn't even ONE new xbox 360 game. Your question was not one that we can answer. We don't charge you for xbox live. Microsoft does. Email them and ask them. The only thing we can help you with is telling you that you're dumb for paying so much for internet and that xbox live is completely worth it in our opinions. meh it realy isn't that bad and u can buy pre paid cards if u feel like playing for like 3 months then not paying u can just let it go. i know i usualy find my way to play on live everyday.

I agree that Xbox Live is a rip off. But there's nothing we can do about it. We have the 360 fanboys pretending this is the way it's supposed to be and we are actually getting our moneys worth. Lol, if you don't like it don't buy it. The price of Xbox Live Gold is IRRELEVANT. What matters is the value you place on it. For example, you value Xbox Live Gold at $0. This means that if you buy it, you're selling yourself out. I value it at $50 a year. I'm happy with my purchase and will be fragging with my teammates for a long time and I will be having fun.
