Xbox representatives dangled the chatpad in front of us when they first announced the Spring Update back in April but waited until E3 2007 to announce its availability. We now know that anxious texters will be able to get their very own Xbox 360 Messenger Kit for $30 on September 6, 2007.

Honestly this looks like a nice product.The price is very affordable and it does make Text Message'ing alot better and faster.Once i die in a game i can always do a quick text to a buddy instead of sending a voice messege or texting on the virtual keyboard.

Hopefully Microsoft can bring a Web Browser:D

Looks nice, and the backlight is cool. I don't have a big enough MSN contact list to really get the most out of MSN messenger on the 360,but if they ever add in a web browser I would pick it up. Or maybe I would just buy a wireless USB keyboard..........

I will. It's stylish. Much cooler then a USB keyboard. And I could always use another wired headset. I only have like 4 of them.

Well im not sure, but them bringing that out makes the chance of them fixing the stuck on childs account glitch alot more likely because you can't use msn with a child account. Bless

they need to just take the age restriction away from messenger, ive been using it since i was like what, 9? im turning 17 soon and this is ridiculous

If their was a web browser on the 360 then I would but there probably will never be, due to cookies and viruses it could totaly ruin your 360.

I might get it idk. Most of my friends just text my cell phone or call when I'm playing the game so I rarely use messages. I mean if I get a new game on launch day some of my friends ask how the game is and besides that I rarely use it.

Not really.It all depends how fast the texter is.I type faster than sending a voice message.Now i will text 2 times faster with the Messenger Kit:D

I don't give a crap about messenger - I want to know if it'll work in games: naming spells in Oblivion or naming vinyl groups in Forza for example. If it'll work in situations like that I'm definitely getting one because the virtual keyboard sucks the left one.

i only have 2 gripes with it....

1. Will the headset fit in the bottom of it while its plugged in?

and

2. What will it feel like when playing some games??(incase u didnt/ cba to take it off... like me)

Read Gamespot's hands on. It comes with a special headset that plugs into the bottom. They said it felt fine while playing games.

I very rarely text message people on the 360 so I'm not getting it. Even when I do text people my laptop sits right next to me when I'm playing and I'm always signed in at Xbox.com so I just send the message that way.

I want to get it, but I probably won't get it right away. I will eventually, though. It's near the first day of school though, so it might be around the first day it comes out :P.

I'm buying it hands down as well. All of microsoft's accessories are excellent qaulity and I like them all. Also I send a lot of text messages on the 360 and now with them fixing the child account on the 360 for windows live messenger it will be even better since windows live is my primary messenger. Hopefully they do get a web-browser, but even if they don't it will still all be good. I just hope the fix the child account problem.
