My XBOX360 has stop working today.
It is unlike any problems I haveseen before... So I'm asking for help...

Ihear the audio on bootup, but I get no picture.

I only see shakeypurple-coloredlinesdisplayed across the screen on HD.
The same thing happens on standard. But it's gray and grainy.

I have verified that it's on the correct HD/STANDARD switch and the coponent cables go into the correct ports.
The XBOX operates as if it's runiing normal, with no red rings or anything.

It seems like it should work, but there is no picture.
I have tried two different TVs. And even bought another set of component cables.
I've tired cleaning the cables too.

I called support, but of course, it would cost $99 because it's not the rings of death and I have an original XBOX.

Is there anyway I can fix it, or something else I could try?

If I had no other option, should I get it repaired, or invest in a new one?

What would get me an XBOX360 that won't do this again, the cheapest way possible?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you matching the colors correctly on the Component cable? Red goes in red, Yellow goes in yellow, White goes in white, the snoz berries taste like snoz berries.

A simliar thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. Only I had a yellowish static on screen then a day later no picture at all. I just bought an elite and sent my old 360 to Microsoft.

I'm getting really tired of microsoft.

It costs $99 to repair a problem that they caused.
Why do "we" stand for this. The customer.

Why can't we do something about it...?

Pop your 360 in the microwave for a few seconds. That should give you the ring of death and the Ring of death is what is covered by the 3 year extended warranty.

just turn your 360 on and keep it completely covered, and run it for a couple days straight, this will insure it overheats lol. just make sure it doesnt catch on fire LoL.

You might just want to send it in so you don't end up messing up your TV. Last I checked HDtv's cost a lot more to replace then a 360.

might be the cables. replace them. If the problem is still there then you know its the system. How long have you had this box?

Have you tried checking the TV inputs? Like plugging another device into the same ports to make sure it's not the actual inputs on the TV having the problems. Also make sure nothing's loose on both ends, the TV and the 360. Try reconnecting the cable from the 360 while it's turned on. Might just be a bad cable if the 360 is working fine otherwise. I had to replace a set of cables because the connection was slightly loose plugging into the 360.

If it's just a problem with the cables you would waste $99 for nothing. Plus you won't mess up your TV unless you kick it or something.

Do you have any red lights? My first console with out with two red lights/hardware failure. I later found out that the graphics card was fried. I could hear the sound, but I didn't have any visuals.

...do disrespect...but you're not color blind right...because I had a friend who didn't know he was color blind and he kept pluging in the cables to the wrong colors and that is exactly what was happening to him...just a thought.

this happend to a buddy of mine where the end of the cables plug into the system something got bent inside that port on the 360. You will unfortunetly have to send it away, or force your system to get the RROD. Pick up your 360 and shake shake shake the baby!

If youve tried EVERYTHING possible and yet no results, I would leave the 360 on for a few days straight or so, and put it somewhere with little ventilation. And just try to get the red rings of death, cuz then you will be able to send it in for free and get a new 360. Thats just what I would do though.

This is the orginal poster. I was borrowing a friends account at first.

I've checked the cables. And I can assure they are in the right ports and on the right setting.

I've reached the end of the troubleshooting. I'm debating at this point if I want to envoke the red rings....

I've had this console since Sept. 06
