actaully, it is good to feel heat. the more heat u feel, the less heat that is INSIDE the console

also, the thing w/ the fan, u might be blowing debris/dust in ur console by sdoing this. directthe fan so that it is blowing heat AWAY form the console when it come out the back

omg..is ther anything right anyone can do? lol..... blowing what? air? i dont have dust flying around i mean yeh dust in the air but meh.. what do u suggest? im not buying the intercooler nyco one..nomatter what fan u use..u culd blw stuff in, if ur gona b that precoursious u might as well do nothing..what HDD vent? at the front of the console u saying? the fan is at one side of my double bed and the xbox isall the way up at the other side so the fan air goes over my covers and should completly miss the HDD..because of the hight of my bed ad the 360 on the ground.. anyway u get me? and dust cums in no matter what..my friends console got modded and we went out hte back wher they do it and had heaps of consoles opened up and i the metal thing in it ( i dont o what exaclty its called but) had dust all in it ( and my friend doesnt ue a fan?) so dust goes in no matterwhat plus the fans air completly misses the front of my console and just skims over the back end and reaches the back pushing the heat away (obviously because i feel none really, except abit on the near thecurtains) anway what do u use or recomend or what have u heard of that i culd maybe use anyway thanx ffor ur comment but i think if i feel no heat and i know the air completly misses the front of my console, i shuld b ok in the dust compartment ;)

Blowing air onto your 360 with a fan is a bit extreme. This might be the reason why your 360 is locking on occasions. It's funny how people panic and do extreme things when they read a few bad stories.

I've never used any type of fan with my 360 and my 360 never crashes. I fell asleep last night while watching E3 videos on my 360. I'd been downloading them all day. When I woke this morning my 360 was still on. No probs. I'm going to play some Guitar Hero in a minute.

...sounds like your doing a good job - even though you may not always feel the 'over-heating' just by touching the back of the Xbox - but you do want to make sure you have it in a well ventilated area, just make sure you don't have stuff on top of it or to either side, it just needs room to 'breathe'... the fan-on-high facing the Xbox would seem to help some but you can also buy a fan that'snaps' into the back of the Xbox which helps keep the Xbox cool from the inside - by sucking the hot air out of the Xbox. It costs $20 USD, some people like it, some people don't - I've been using it since I got my 2nd Xbox and it's been working great for me, the whole machine (back, top, and sides) feels much cooler - and I play for MANY MORE hours straight than it sounds like you do. I'll leave you a link here and maybe you can order one or someone here can ship it to you, or maybe you can find one there... here's the link to the product...

http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=71

and here'a a link to some reviews on the product from IGN and Engadget...

http://gear.ign.com/articles/703/703791p1.html

http://www.engadget.com/2006/04/02/nykos-xbox-360-intercooler/

...or if you really want to go all out with some custom internal fans that will cost a little bit more, here's the link...

http://www.xbox-modchips.com/xcm-xbox360-air-cooler.htm make sure you check out the pics at the bottom of this links site...

...well let me know what you decide to do, if you feel like you're doing ok with what you got then just go with that, but for a little peace of mindanda little piece of money :D you might decide to try one of the fans... I hope I helped more than confused.

no no u helped:) but i heard the fans that atach to the back can melt onto the 360, also cause RRoD and catch fire and all sorts so i was thinking of doing a more natural method time:)

i just wanted to ask the same question...If I put on small fan ( 12 V ) not big and point it from right side of console ( the side where 360 is taking fresh air, far from DVD drive) , will that be bad for 360 ??, I mean that is loggic, if you give her( console ) more fresh air, you will have more cool air true the console .... For me that is good way...I know there is problem with dust, but dust is everywhere, and that is not real dust, I mean, we dont live in country like Saudi Arabia ,and we dont have a real dust like they have...This is just a thought, what you think guys ?? And one thing, power source for the 12 volt fan should be separated from 360's source of energyof course...

well, the concept of a fan blowing into the console is just more air being forced through the console, it's not really "cooling" it. its better to use the fan to help the 360 get the heat AWAY from the console, and let the 360 take in its own air

I am from Bosnia..25...about the fan...it is not a powerful fan , it's small 12v fan which produce small turbulence of air...I have friend, he has installed two 9v fans from the right side if 360, and he also told me that air isnt so hot like earlier...as italiano07 already said...

my console is a brand new, I am very happy with it,dont play so much(2-3hours everyday,)but after so many complaints from the world I am a little bit scared....I thinkthe only problem in this case with fans is the dust but as I said that is normal dust:D...

and one thing...that power source, "the Brick", are you keeping it in wall outlet all the time , I mean when you dont play , is still power on ?? or you are taking it from wall outlet ??

sorry for my english if you didnt understand me...I am still learning:D

...Microsoft says you can leave the Brick plugged in to the wall without having to have it plugged into a power strip to protect the machine because it has surge protector built-in to it... but yeah you can leave it plugged into the wall while the machine is off...

some peolple say that you need to separate power source for console and for rest of stuff( tv, etc )...and also is recommended to put your " brick " directly into the wall outlet...

these days I 'll put a small 12V fan, like you did, to see a difference(about temperature of air coming out),and let you know my impression with that:)...Until that, I wish you a good and cool console:lol:
