I never understood the big freaking deal with this series of games. The first one was mediocre at best, and the second one was hardly any better. The online is not that great, sure it's fun at times but it's nothing new or innovative, or even special. I have not seen one reason to make me want to buy Halo 3. What is it that sets this game apart from all the other FPS games out there?

To understand what makes this game so great, you have to go back to when it was first released. It was one of the only FPS an the time that allowed you to play the entire game Co-op(obviously there were games like golden eye, which were also popular). It was one of the first FPS at the time to use physics. it was the first FPS to have seemless first person to 3rd person vehicle transitions. The AI behaves differently almost each time you play it. It also had you fighting along side NPCs who were actually useful. If you played it two or three years after release you couldn't possibly understand, just like how someone playing super mario bros right now for the first time.
Not to mention how many current fps allow you to play 4 player split screen multiplayer that's actually fun. then set up a lan and increase the number of players?
