Yes all electronics get hot...especially the 360..its just its nature.I doubt the fact that its black have anything to do with it.

Just dont flame on when you near it.

Touch the vents on your HDTV, if you have one. You'd probably find it's just as hot.

Maybe it's just getting hot when you touch it with your flame powers. Ask Mr. Fantastice if it's hot.

Just because it is hot doesn't mean it is going to overheat. All things get hot from functioning. Now with all that fanning and stuff you got there you don't want to overcool it.

I don't know about the whole "fan blowing air into the xbox" thing. There's a chance you could be blowing some dust into it or even warm air. I'd either get one of those cooling fan add-ons if it really is that hot or just leave it alone and hope that ring stays nice and green.

It doesnt matter how hot it gets as long as it still works fine. Its when it starts crashing and stuff then you need to start worrying.

That was funny. ROFL. The more I think about it, the more I'm laughing about it lol.

Unless your 360 is locking up, or crashing, etc., I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've played 12+ hours at a time, and it get's very hot, but I've never had any problems due to that.

I wouldn't raise concern. Anything that you keep running for a long time willbuild heat. Take into mind that the 360 is running three processors too.On an added note, I'd be cautious about the fan... It could as said blow dust back and do more harm then good.

Zeliard9, I wouldn't suggest that cooling fan to even joke around. Intercooler or whatever third party device, it'll ruin him. Those things do much more harm then they help.

Because Microsoft didn't care to make it run cooler? Maybe you should think about that one.

I don't have an elite, but mine gets really hot in 10 minutes and its pratically in mid area with almost nothing surrounding it besides open space. I even have it in a forward leaning possition so the air can get out easily through the back.

I'm assuming this is your first 360? My Elite and most of them tested by tech sites run cooler than Premiums slightly. The 360's run hot in general - ther is nothing wrong with that and the DVD's aren't going to melt. LOL

It's fine - if it's working don't worry about it - they put out allot of heat.

Someone suggested getting an Inter-cooler that attatches to the back of your 360. I anti-sugget that. That saps power away from your 360, and normal fans will blow dust inside.

The 360 is a machine more than capable of cooling itself. My first 360 was kept inside the entertainment cabinet along with my older consoles. PS2 and Gamecube, however, are older systems, and don't generate nearly as much heat as the 360. While they're fine inside the cabinet, the 360 was not. I gave it some room inside, but hot air would bounce right back. I bought an intercooler, and three days later I had the red lights.

Microsoft sent me a new 360, which I keep on top of the cabinet, with plent of room on all sides for ventalation.

Also, if the heat in mostly in the back of the 360, it means that the fans are doing a good job keeping the heat away from the procesors. Just give your 360 a little breathing room.

Listen bro, I have 2 xboxs. One of them makes the disk warmer then the other one. Both units run fine. Kepp in mind you should only play for 4 hour at the max then shut it off. This was recomended to me from a friend who works in the repair shop for the xbox...This is coming from the mouth of an actual tech....Xbox will get hot dont worrie. Just give it breaks....

All 360 consoles get hot due to the amount of power in such a tiny space. If it was actually overheating you would know because it would either turn itself off or you would get two red light on the left side of your ring of light.

Speaking of the 360 I am encouraging everyone to read my blog (Micro Satisfaction) any one who has ever had to deal with the axbox staff about broken consoles and things like that. Read it and you will see why please.

its probably the microsoft gremlins.make sure to give your 360 a kiss be4 bed.o and one more thing if the microsoft gremlins creep into your 360 at night they will mess up your console and give you the red ring of death.

It gets hot so you can cook hot dogs on it! I tried that the other day, thankfully it works as a better game console than a grill.
