People are getting some pretty serious addictions to gaming these days. People have been missing sleep and even work to play games. I have heard it to cause marriage breakdowns and then there was the famous story of the guy that died after a massive gaming session.

My question is to help gaugehow far these addictions extend

Every console should come with an optional self-castration kit.

Not only would the people that prefer their gaming system over asignificant someonecan snip themselves and not worry about urges but also then the rest of us can be assured that they are removed from the gene pool.

My wife is the one who persuaded me to buy a PS3 and Xbox 360. Therefore, I really don't think I'd have to make the choice, as she loves gaming too. But if the choice ever came down to it, I'd choose my wife over any game/career/console/friend/etc.

On the other hand, I did have some girlfriends back in the day who would never have stood a chance against a 360 haha.

On a serious note, choosing your girlfriend should be the obvious choice. And if things don't work out you can always go back to your Xbox. The situation in reverse, however, is not the same. You can't just go to your girlfriend when the Xbox doesn't work. Knowing that you choose a machine over a person, she will have left you by then.

On a lighter note, at least you can turn off the Xbox when it bothers you.
