Astro Boy is a robot created by a brilliant scientist as a substitute for his son who was killed in a traffic accident. The scientist gives Astro Boy his super powers - eyes like searchlights, ears that hear for miles, fingers enhanced with lasers, limbs that fire rockets and the ability to fly. Toby is also a quick learner; after he dies in an accident, he's reborn inside a robot that looks just like him and retains all of his memories. His father, in fact, treats him just like the original Toby.

Genos was a regular boy. One day, a crazy rampaging cyborg attacked his town, destroying it and killing his family. Genos begged Dr. Kuseno to transform him into a cyborg. Genos was reborn as a cyborg fighting for justice. With all of the powerful technology inside of Genos incredibly powerful, but the humble nature he applies to his strength makes the character even more appealing.
