Gamespots review did not give this game what it derserved!
Age of empires was one of, if not my very first computer game, and I instantly loved it. It hasn't dated as well as some games of similar age, but it still is a classic and I do still play it from time to time. Age of... Read Full Review

Back in 1999 = Maybe Today in 2009 = Leave it alone
Rise of Rome is an expansion to the first Age of Empires game, thankful all the issues addressed about the first game, has been fixed in this game. Rise of Rome adds new scenerios, units and building, however that's al... Read Full Review

Be thankful Ensemble Studios never gave up
Campaign is crap, however the Multiplayer is worth it. Ensemble Studios is happy to have Microsoft to back them with this game series and to produce sequels... I meant 'better' sequels, because this game AI seriously ... Read Full Review

Old game, but if you are into RTS, this is the ancestor!!
The game is now more than 10 years old and you notice it of course when playing. It's certainly not the perfect game, but it does the trick in giving you the tools to play in the AOE universum. The several missions ar... Read Full Review

Age of Empires has many flaws, and they seem to outweigh the good.
I got the first Age of Empires after being introduced to the series with Age of Empires 3 (which was amazing), and was greatly disappointed with all the mistakes that were made in this game. The way Age of Empires is ... Read Full Review

I do believe that I've been playing this game since I was about 5. It never gets old with the never-ending amount of new strategies to come up with to destroy your enemy. The campaigns available are neither too hard nor ... Read Full Review

Despite it's shortfalls, Age of Empires is a hugely enjoyable game that you will play for a very long time.
Age of Empires is a real-time strategy game developed by the late RTS masters, Ensemble Studios. The game's timeline spans from the Stone Age to the Classical Age and centres on two game modes: random map and campaign. W... Read Full Review
