What Gamespot Users have to say about NIER
- Rating:8
Slow start and boring side quest weaken this otherwise great game. Has one of the best soundtracks ever heard in games.
Nier starts in an empty and worn city, where only two persons remain. A father's trying his best to take care of his supposedly incurable sick daughter. They take refuge in a library, when a group of shades attack them,... Read Full Review

A very underrated game; Nier is a breath of fresh air for the RPG genre on modern systems.
I'd just like to point out first of all that, like many, I do think Kevin VanOrd was wrong with the score he gave this. This is a perfect example as to why I'm losing faith in Gamespot staff that review games nowadays. ... Read Full Review

A wonderful game with a fascinating world and beautiful characters.
I don't understand why this game got a bad rap. Characters, world, and concepts are wonderful and engaging. You feel for these characters far more than in any other game I've played lately. Having them fight besid... Read Full Review

NieR is a beautiful adventure that you should not miss.
Let's start with the bad: - Dated Graphics: While the graphics isn't horrible, it might feel dated. People who play JRPGs usually don't care about the graphics though. - Inconsistent Difficulty: I played on Hard... Read Full Review

A JRPG trying to be different.
Nier is considered an RPG (JRPG) but it only accomplishes this in look and style. Yes there is levelling up and weapon & magic upgrading and an open world ala final fantasies of past. But the combat it more like a 3rd pe... Read Full Review

RPG fans, NIER is here for the rescue!!
I don't know whats wrong with GameSpot! 5 out of 10! I know that the graphics are simple and there are no movies, and the pixels are obvious! But hey! Great games are more than graphics! Story? Soundtrack? Charact... Read Full Review
