What Gamespot Users have to say about Risen
- Rating:8.5
Risen lacks the ambition and groundbreaking design of previous PB titles, but still, it provides a solid RPG experience.
Piranha Bytes only had one franchise ( Gothic ) , but it fully gained the heart of many hard to impress gamers with that franchise alone. But after Jowood , the publisher of their games forced Gothic 3 to be released unf... Read Full Review

First half is great! The second one... not so much.
From the start, this game can be very challenging and the rather clunky combat system can be off-putting to new-comers. Personally, I never played any of the Gothic games (except Arcania) so this took some time getting u... Read Full Review

Risen is a great RPG aventure, imagine the qualities of Ultima Underworld and Oblivion mix together.
Risen was a great adventure. I love the story on the island where almost every characters or quests are related to what is going on. Your actions feel important. The island is not overcrowded and has a really good pacing... Read Full Review

What Gothic 3 should have been instead, although it's almost quite similar but Risen has some better mechanics.
I think this game is totally underrated since people think that the game is a duplicate of Gothic 3. It may run on the same engine and may have similar gameplay but Risen is one step ahead and I found it to be way more e... Read Full Review

Well I am. I've been playing this game for some time, maybe 26 hours or so, and haven't had the feeling that it is hard, any special bugs, or anything like it. Got a few pointers of my own here, that I would like to sh... Read Full Review

I played the game for 63 hours. The first 10 - 15 hrs is somewhat slow and boring. There are three character classes (factions), Bandit, Mage and Warrior of the Order. I played through as a Bandit. You spend the be... Read Full Review

Risen: Playing hide in the dark.
This could have been a brilliant game if it wasn't for the large array of technical issues that plagued this game. Crappy controls, slow frame rate, and once it gets dark that's it. That's the main reason i was annoyed w... Read Full Review

A solid RPG that is bogged down by technical issues. Patient, dedicated gamers can still have an enjoyable experience.
After a successful debut on the PC, Piranha Bytes open ended RPG Risen has arrived on the Xbox 360. Casting the player in the shoes of a shipwrecked stowaway washed up on the shores of a mysterious island, the player qui... Read Full Review

Back to what made us fall in love with Gothic in the first place.
First of all Risen is not Gothic 3, at all. So if your looking for a more polished, bug free, and well organized version of Gothic 3 you will not find it here. Instead the game returns to its founding qualties that made ... Read Full Review
