What Gamespot Users have to say about Stranglehold

pretty much what I expected; not great, but not bad
Stranglehold delivers exactly what I'd expect from it: instant, somewhat shallow fun. Being one that personally enjoys cop-HK flicks, the story and characters were familiar to me, and helped to up the enjoyment level. ... Read Full Review

Anyone who has wanted to be in a John Woo action movie now can have that chance.
Anyone who has wanted to be in a John Woo action movie now can have that chance. Now you too can take part in completely unrealistic action sequences, take a thousand bullets and come away with a couple of cuts and scrat... Read Full Review

Great looking game, but the gun fights get very repetitive.
Stranglehold is a nice looking game. It has good graphics and sound, and the presentation is nice, but is a bit of a letdown. The gunfights are nice as in using carts and banisters to slide down to shoot bad guys, cha... Read Full Review

Lots of action and shooting. Not too bad a storyline, but some of the lines can be a bit cheesy.
At first I wasn't sure about this game as it seemed like another version of Max Payne, however after playing the game I really got into it. The story isn't too bad, but there are a few cheesy lines in the cut-scenes. ... Read Full Review

Keeps you busy.
Stranglehold is an interesting game. It's average in pretty much every area. Graphics are good, gameplay is sound and most importantly it's fun. It's wierd, this game is simply shoot, shoot. This makes it repetative ... Read Full Review

Great graphics, gameplay seems great at first, but then it's repetitive. I found it full of bugs, the game crashes
At first, when you see John Woo on the Box, you would say "Asian hard core action", like his moves. For me, if you say so, you right, but you it's repetitive and I found it full of bugs even after installing the patch. ... Read Full Review

Best immersive, cinematic game yet. Better than MGS4 for me - and I know that's tantamount to sacrilege!
For me, this has been addictive - it really does feel like you are in a John Woo movie. Good effects with the environment splintering and getting destroyed. Good 'set pieces', again - just like a movie. Satisfying to pla... Read Full Review

Short but nonstop shooting action from start to finish. Max Payne meets Black.
Stranglehold is a sequel to director John Woo's Hong Kong action film Hardboiled. It's also Max Payne featuring constant shooting and heavy use of bullet-time effects. Story of Stranglehold is not so great, but consid... Read Full Review

John Woo inspired the game Max Payne. Now Woo has his own Max Payne called Stranglehold.
I have played Max Payne and Max Payne 2. I loved those games. It brought John Woo's big screen movies into a video game. Flying through the air and blasting your enemy's away. 3D realms and rockstar pulled it off per... Read Full Review
