Super Metroid not only revitalizes the sidescrolling genre, but proves that despite the fancy 3D craze, 2D can be better
Super Metroid had stood the test of time and, despite the reformating and new dimentionality of the gamecube/wii installments, this sidescroller still DOMINATES the later versions. Why? 1. While the later versions se... Read Full Review

"I say best in series and one of the top ten 2D playformers ever"
Another great adventure for Samus but this is Samus's greatest adventure to date. Super Metroid is just a great game all around its is very detailed, long enough, entertaining and fun all the way through the game, there ... Read Full Review

As the best game of 1994, and the best snes game ever, Super Metroid dares you to not play it, you can't resist though.
Metroid was released in 1986, year beggining a new era of highly praised video games. Maetroid II was released in 1991. Both were not as good as this game. Where Samus has to face off Mother brain and rescue the last met... Read Full Review

Great vc game
I missed out big time back in 1993. I never had an SNES, so I never got an opportunity to play this game. I had played the original Metroid back in the day, but it wasn't all that great. I had played other Metroid games ... Read Full Review

When the concept of two-dimensional side scrolling is brought up, it is easy for one to immediately think of Super Mario Brothers. A simple yet clever level design meant to be played as linear level progression from begi... Read Full Review

Alert! Samus's classic mission is a brilliant platforming-shooter that will hold you in a vice grip until the end.
My only experiences with original Metroid platformers was with Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission. I can easily see where those games got there greatness after playing this baby. Great level design encourages non-linear e... Read Full Review

one of the best games on the super nintendo is now on the wii virtual console.
metroid prime is a great game, one of the highlights of the gamecube, but honestly it's no match for super metroid on the super nintendo. sm is 2d action/platforming at its best; it took the already stellar metroid franc... Read Full Review

One of the best games ever made. Its' lack of difficulty and its' short length are definite flaws, though.
Super Metroid is one of my all-time favorite games, but unfortunately it is not without its faults. It's better than the original Metroid in terms of its graphics and its easy control scheme, but it's a short game that i... Read Full Review
