"Taking Children Seriously" is a load of CRAP.

For those of you who aren't familiar with this philosophy, Taking Children Seriously argues that typical parent/child relations are based on coercion, and that the only why to raise your child is to talk with them and find a common preference, no matter what they do.

It's enough to make me wanna PUKE!!!!!!!!!

When I was a kid, and I did something bad, my parents went all out: They put my in the corner, they sent me to bed without dinner, they spanked me until my butt was red, and guess what? I've turned out just fine. Raising your kids by this stupid philosophy is just gonna prompt them to grow up and go on "Oprah" and blame you for all their problems when they really should be saying, "My mom was all right, and my dad was all right. I'm just a sh!thead."

That is exactly why I plan to raise my children with the same firmness that my parents raised me with.

All Danny Phantom fans need to read this NOW

Danny Phantom is going to be cancelled. It shouldn't, but it is. It's time for us all to face facts: DP is goin' down, and there's nothing we can do about it. They're not going to listen to all the petitions, rallies, and fan-art, so we all have to take it upon ourselves to do the next best thing: When DP is cancelled, I say that we all pour a large amount of the stiffest drink that we actually drink, and toast Danny Phantom with a hero's funeral. Because in the end, that's what he truly deserves: A warrior's death. So what do you say? Let's just sit back, enjoy every second of time we have left with him, let him know how much we appreciate him, and say goodbye.

I had a dream about "Danny Phantom" last night!!! It changed my life!!

Well, not exactly. It was like watching a very long, convoluted episode that had little to do with DP himself and more about Jazz and Sam working together to solve some sort of crime committed by an ice ghost while trying to keep the whole thing hidden from Danny. Eventually, Danny started to figure things out and went into the hospital room where the ice ghost was sleeping. But when he got in there, Sam was lying naked in the bed with the ice ghost, apparently giving it a blood transfusion of sorts. I woke at this part, but the meaning of the dream is very clear to me: It has been so long since I've actually seen an episode of "Danny Phantom" that I can no longer identify with the show. Well, no more. I plan to spend the rest of the day watching every single episode at LiveVideo.com.

After researching the fictional character Alex Rider . . .

I've come to only one conclusion: He's a (cheap) knockoff of James Bond. I mean, there's only6 actual differences between the two:

  1. The time period in which his assignments take place
  2. His name
  3. His age
  4. The villains he fights
  5. Rider is not a womanizer
  6. Rider doesn't work for MI6 willingly

Other then that, I fail to see what makes Rider unique. Both he and Bond are: Described as handsome, come from troubled backgrounds, are loners, are orphans, work for MI6, and are both highly intelligent and athletic. And to add insult to injury, the novels portraying him have on at least one occasion actually ripped off the Bond books!

Okay. I've ranted, and I feel better.

It's been one heck of a weekend.

It started out pretty good. I took Regina to this Bed & Breakfast in the mountains for the weekend, and the first day was fun, the two of us alone together. The second, I got an offer to go on a white-water rafting excursion because they needed one more person with experience along. Regina couldn't go because of her condition, but she insisted that I go. So I did. I fell out about 3 times, I hit my head on a rock (I was wearing a helmet, thank God), I got multiple bruises along my knees, and my arms, back, shoulders, and butt are so sore I can barely move. I guess that's karma's way of getting me back for leaving Regina back at the inn. Well, at least we're home now and I can move about without much trouble.

I saw Roseanne Arnold!!!

It was about a week ago, when Regina and I were visiting my home town so I could take my finals, and while I was walking home, this white car pulled alongside me. I look over, and who is staring back but Roseanne Arnold! I've seen the show "Roseanne" enough times to know her face, and it matched hers EXACTLY. She just sort of stared, and then drove off.

ROOT BEER KEGGER, wh00t wh00t!!!!!!!!!!!

It's time-honored tradition at my high school. A bunch of people from my school get together and drink root beer and various other sodas in the same way you would drink beer at an actual kegger. Since the "no alcohol" rule is strictly enforced, the local police often attend. It's always held at night on the last day of school, to celebrate summer vacation. I'm taking Regina in a few minutes to celebrate our last night in America for a long time. There's always a great deal of food at these things, so I think we'll be there for a while.
