Plea to the networks . . .

This is a plea to the networks. A plea saying please stop canceling all the shows I love. It breaks my heart a little and I can't believe it is good buisness. Is it really more cost effective to cancel a show that is just hitting its stride and may be read to find its audience then to make a whole new show? In the age of DVRs and Tivo you still need to let things sit for awhile, as people don't always notice something new. I guess I can see canceling something that has no viewers, but when you cancel something with nothing to put in its place. You can as easily do worse as you can better. So, so this is my plea to the networks please give quality shows a change! I will Miss you: Life on Mars (Killed by ABC) I still miss you: Pushing Daisies (Killed by ABC)
Please save: Terminator (Not yet killed by Fox - though being tortured on Friday nights)

Super Bowl 43!

I love to watch the super bowl!

This year is a bit disappointing as I'm in Canada and do not get the awesome commercials. I'm from Green Bay, so I have to be sad the Packers aren't in it.

However, the Steelers and the Cardinals did not disappoint. It was an exciting game just like last year. You really needed to watch to the end. I love good close games! Steelers have now made history by winning 6 superbowls! Awesome! I must say I was cheering for Pittsburgh, so I guess I've won. I feel a bit bad for Kurt Warner who is a pretty amazing athlete. He has really perfected the come back.

After all that football talk I feel I must point out that Mike Tomlin is really cute as well as a good coach. It helps that he is a lot younger than most coaches

Finally, I'd like to point out that it is the Vince Lombardi trophy :P

Movies on TV

There have been some great movies on tv lately. I always wached movies on tv as a kid and then stopped. Resently, I've gotten to watch a couple of movies on tv that I really enjoy and hadn't thought about for awhile and i watched something I never thought I'd like!.

First, I got to watch To Sir With Love, which is really a must see movie and a classic. Its about a man who becomes a teacher (by accident) in a tough neighborhood and has to find away to connect to his students. I suggest watching it and if you like that you may want to try Blackboard Jungle and Stand and Deliver.

Another great movie that I caught is Benny and Joon. Really one of my favorites and a real ****c. Its a drama, but it is also very funny. The acting and story are both great. I hightly recommend it. Other movies in a similar vein are Whats eating gilbert grape (oddly also with Johnny depp) and The Other Sister.

Finally I saw Man on the Moon for the first time. I did not know much about Andy Kaufman before the movie. I'd seen taxi and I knew about the wrestling thing, but thats about it. I found the movie to be suprisingly touching and really enjoyed it though it really is not my normal kind of movie. Andy Kaufman is a strange man. Another similarly odd movie, but less funny is confessions of a dangerous mind.

Japanese Dramas: Or my new obsession

So, some old friends from college have gotten me hooked on Japanese dramas. This is not a suprising addiction as I love Japanese movies and anime already. However, I feel Japanese dramas are not often talked about an many of you may be missing out on this wonderful and crazy tv form. These Japanese dramas are 10-12 episode tv shows based on manga . . . but heres the kicker with real people! Often thses great shows feature J pop idols, which is a crazy and wonderful phenomina in its own right. Anyway, I hightly recommend lookiing into this fantastic genre! Current favorite: Yamada Taro Monogatari! The banner has been changed to reflect this. YTM features two members of Arashi (awesome Jpop supergroup): Ninomiya Kazunari (he's also in Letters from Iwo Jima) and Sakurai Sho.

James Bond, Twilight, and the lists

I just watch the new James Bond, which was a fine action movie. However, it was not very James Bondy. It just missed the mark a bit. I also recently watch Twilight, which everyone I know hated and I didn't think was too bad. I'd known nothing about it though and had no expectations. This made me think about my favorite movies and how I really need to make favorite movie lists! Hopefully someone will find something new! These are in no particular order.
