Let's Cut to the Chase

Desperate Housewives--Remember that stylistic change I was asking for?  This week's episode was hilarious.  A welcome humor-driven hour that only aided itself to the occasionally dragging plot lines.  Next week's hostage "sitch" should be great too.  Nothing dangerous that involves all of the characters has happened before.  Makes me think of Sunset Beach's earthquake and tidal wave story arc, or Days of Our Lives's blizzard.  True soap operas truly rock.

Brothers & Sisters--What?  Were you on this week?  I was too hyped from a great DH episode that I didn't even think twice about devoting my time to this great relationship drama.  Woops!  Shift this well-written, star-driven soap to the post-Grey's Anatomy slot on Thursday and I garauntee success (or at least something better than Six Degrees).

Heroes--Don't be so painfully mysterious.  Every 20 minutes I find myself excited and interested in the characters and their powers.  Maybe it's just my extremely unhealthy desire to become a super-hero, but I'd much rather see these people using their powers than whining about it all the time.  There's got to be a better way to humanize such a fantastical subject without manipulating me into believing that trite, contrived dialogue will somehow lead to a full hour of my tuchus being on the edge of my seat.

Umm...really sad.  I missed Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars.  I caught parts of Nip/Tuck (what's with Liz's b***ch-Alanis Morisette-girlfriend?!?), but I had to work.  What??  It was Halloween too!

Brothers, Sisters, and Growing Up

I'm enjoying Brothers & Sisters more and more.  Greg Berlanti's influence is slowly surfacing through the dialogue that gets wittier, and smarter.  The characters' arguments are full of flaws and practically blur the lines between who's right and who's wrong.  Just like in real life, you say?  Totally brings me back to the days of Everwood.  If only B&S were as interesting or as loveable as the "wood."  Ew.  Oh well.

Desperate Housewives was...okay?  I am IN LOVE with Marcia Cross and her character's story-lines, but everything else isn't really tugging my heart-strings are tickling my fancies.  I'm mostly bored with the show and some major shift needs to occur.  And I don't mean plot-wise, I mean stylistically.  We'll see about all of this.  I think I'm just really critical (though my criticisms are always right) about everything.  I just know that this show could be more entertaining.  Like season 1.

Not Pretty Betty

Woops!  I gave up on Ugly Betty tonight.  It's...too much camp.  I was liking it at first, hoping it would iron out the kinks (and the quirks), to no avail.  I love America Fererra, but no.  It was just too much.  So, back to my rock solid The Office.  And how.  Moving along...

So, I know Grey's Anatomy is trying lighten up after a monstrous, deeply sad finale last season, but I feel no need to watch next week's, ya know?  I wouldn't feel like I'd miss anything.  And I gave up on Six Degrees too.  What a disappointment that was.  But hey, isn't that how the cookie crumbles?  Not every show can be a hit.  Neither should every show be mediocre.

Jealous Much?

I just bought Grey's Anatomy Season 2 for $20.  Am I not amazing??  I love working at a place that buys used DVD's AND let's me have beautiful discounts.

I watched Jericho again tonight.  Wuff, that show is getting worse and worse, and I'm getting more and more interested and irritated at the fact that I'm liking it.  I just love disasters!!  I also watched America's Next Top Model.  I'm not really liking it that much this "cycle."  I got to watch Gilmore Girls last night since I didn't have to work.  That show makes me such a happy person, even though it kind of ended on a low-note.  I also watched Veronica Mars (which I've never completely watched).  The writing is so intelligent (and funny) on that show.  I'm'a try to watch it when I can.  BLAHBLAHBLAH.  I could go on and on for days.

Betty La Fea

That's the title of the original telenovela.  "Betty the Ugly."  I really liked Ugly Betty.  Although, it feels a bit too...3rd person?  I feel like I'm simply watching the show and that I'm not actively involved (unlike Grey's Anatomy), but I think it's got great potential.  It embodies great camp and has wonderful characters.  I'm hoping that as the show grows it will focus more on those characters.  And what's up with the crazy "shrouded evil woman."  That's beautiful!  I'm hoping this is a success.  However, it just feels like it'd be better paired with Desperate Housewives, also a self-aware camp-fest, but more drama-saturated.  Grey's Anatomy just doesn't particularly feel like the right thing to follow this sillier dramedy.  We'll see!

One Month Later...

I haven't written in this in a REALLY long time.  By the way:  didn't get that job (thank God though, school comes first).  Here's the rundown kiddos:  Grey's premiere was okay, DH premiere was okay, Six Degrees was lackluster, Brothers & Sisters was..intriguing?  I'll need more development, while Heroes was..definitely a "pilot" episode, I'm thorougly interested to see where the show is going.  Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip was lacking...bite?  As was Shark.  Goodness, so far the class of '06 is turning out to be pretty mediocre.  I will say this though:  House, Project Runway, and The Office are amazing, as always.  I'm still excited for 30 Rock, The Nine, Lost, and Ugly Betty.

AUDiTION!

I just auditioned for a TV show on PBS yesterday. It's a local show called The Aisle Seat, and it's a movie/music review show. They call me next week to let me know if I got the job of Co-Host. I'm excited! Wish me luck!

I'm Pathetic

Now, I normally don't watch TV. I have issues with just channel surfing and mindless television. However, lately I've been doing just that. I alwasy find myself hoping and praying that What Not to Wear is on, and it usually is thank God. My addiction to that show tends to fluctuate with the tide. The tide is in right now.

Piiiiiiiiilots.

Watched the Jericho pilot. Loooooved it. It actually wasn't that good, but I'm such a sucker for disaster-themed plots. I'm really excited for the rest of it. Also watched The Nine pilot. SO GOOD. It was so weird how well it was written for a pilot episode. There characters are really complex and there's going to be so many mysteries and dramas. LOVE IT.
