Five minutes

I have five minutes of internet today. Yesterday, I got to check my email, and today I get to come here to write my blog. Just not enough time to do both at once. Anyways, I'm not gone forever, I'm just... ugh there have been some issues I've had to deal with, and I'm taking some time away from things, I guess. Just thought I'd let you all know I'm not dead, though. I miss it here, and I miss most of you. One day I will return. Promise. -Jon

Christmas, and Oilers in FIRST

Merry Christmas blah blah blah. (There is non hockey related stuff after the first paragraph... so don't stop reading now :P) THE OILERS ARE IN FIRST in the Northwest Division! Once again, I know nobody cares, but man... this is exciting times for Oilers fans. They haven't been this dominating since the days of Gretzky, Messier, Coffey, Kurri, Lowe and Fuhr. Folks, Ales Hemsky IS the real deal. The Edmonton Oilers will be crowned the 05/06 Stanley Cup Champions :) And Christmas. Serenity :) Right now, my mom's cousin and her family are staying here. That means two little boys.... the older one being five. And extremely hyper. Don't get me wrong, I love kids... but wow... did I mention the bit about hyper? Very hyper... I hope everybody has a wonderful Christmas, and that Santa is good to them. Er... sorry... want to keep this politically correct (rolls eyes) Happy Holidays. And forget that Santa bit.

Eskies, Oilers Updates (I know you all care)

Well, since I doubt anybody reading this gives a rats behind about hockey, or even knows what the CFL is, I'm gonna talk about them. First and foremost, the ESKIMOS WON THE FREAKIN GREY CUP!!!!! Just so you all know, the Grey Cup is the trophy for the champion of the CFL... the Canadian Football League. Yes, not as prestigious as the Super Bowl, but a heck of a lot more exciting, IMO anyway. Our rules are just... better. Anyways, WOO Edmonton rocks, second grey cup in three years... next year we'll become a dynasty. And the Oilers... well, after a rough patch of losing seven straight (I wanted to cry...) they've bounced back and are now at a decent spot in the west. Seventh... not great, but if they keep playing the way they have, and don't have any more seven game losing skids, they should be in the top five at some point, and that's darn impressive for little old us. Hemsky appears to be the 'real deal' he's got some pretty slick moves (see the Colorado game a while back... *orgasms*). Now, I'm not saying they're a shoe in for the Stanley Cup, but with the likes of Torres, Hemsky, Smyth, Stoll (who's surprised me) and even Horcoff (who despite leading the team in points, I don't think is really all that... but his points clearly prove me wrong) Peca, Pronger, Smith, Bergeron (who looks like the next Coffey at times), Laraque finally fighting again, Dvorak coming on strong, Morrison and Markkanen working the pipes, and the recent waiver pickup of Kolanos... they do look like a team that could make some noise in the post season. Oh, and let's not forget Fernando Pisani, who (after I cursed at the TV for a minute... why MacT picked him as the fourth shooter in the shootout VS Calgary I still don't know) surprised everybody and scored the winner in the shootout. That's all.

My Six Degrees of Seperation to Joss

Okay, me and Mr. Whedon are practically brothers now. See, my mom's best friend's high school teacher was Nathan Fillion's mom. Six degrees... Me-> My mom My mom-> Her friend Her-> Nathan Fillion's mom Nathan Fillion's mom-> Nathan Fillion Nathan Fillion-> Joss Whedon Well, that's only five degrees, but that's even better. And only four to Nathan Fillion. I knew he was from Edmonton, but that's kinda cool that his mom taught somebody I know. Hey, I know her too, I guess that makes it three degrees. And four to Joss. And that's why me and Joss Whedon are practically brothers.

Writers?

Okay, so remember a long time ago when I wrote some blogs about the stories I'm writing? If you saw that and thought "what a loser" or "why would I care?" I'd say stop reading now. I'm not trying to get people to read what I'm writing this time round, course you're still welcome to. No, now I'm trying to recruit new writers. My story (which I write in episodes, 22 a season heh) has gotten its own spinoff (because, any good work deserves a spinoff) and if I want to pop out these seasons in reasonable amounts of time, I'm gonna need help. It is based kinda in the Buffyverse, but there are differences. If you are interested, email me (pebble_9@hotmail.com) or AIM me jfhlbuffy. And if you think I'm a big loser, well... yeah... what's your point?

New Banner

Thanks Doug! He made my slick new banner that kicks the crap out of the POS I had made. Really appreciate it!

What a game...

Okay, so I realize that most people here don't really care about hockey. But I do. And it's my blog. So ha. And I was at the Oilers/Canucks game last night. Holy crap, what a finish! So, after horrible horrible officiating totally biased against Edmonton, Vancouver is up 3-2 with a minute to go. FINALLY the refs make a good call, and the Oil get a PP. They pull the goalie to make it a 6 on 4. Goes down low to Peca, who slides it across to Torres, almost behind the net. SOMEHOW he manages to find room and with 23 seconds left scores his second of the game to send it to OT!! (It was his 24th bday too... nice present) No goals in OT, but then the newly introduced Shootout! Markkanen robs Naslund on the Canucks first shot, and the crowd goes wild! The Bday boy Torres takes the Oilers first shot, dekes out Cloutier and the Oilers have the SO lead! Bertuzzi (who we booed every time he touched the puck :)) takes the second Vancouver shot, and Marks robs him as well! So, Ales Hemsky has the chance to win the game for the Oil! He breaks in... shoots! HE SCORES!!! EDMONTON WIN!! Sorry... I was at the game, so I got kinda excited. Helluva game.

Hockey Tomorrow!

I'm so pumped! The NHL regular season starts again tomorrow! Oilers hosting the Avalanche... heh, let's see how they fare without their beloved Peter Forsberg, eh? And against Chris Pronger and Mike Peca... Oilers got it in the bag :D

My First Insane TV Season

So, after years of just watching Buffy and Angel, I've found I now have time to be a true TV nerd. Last season, I spent time watching DVDs to get caught up in many shows, and now I'm watching them as they air (cept one, which I'm just... taping... because 110 episodes was a lot to catch up on) Now I fear I'm watching too many shows. Gilmore Girls (to be fair, still on the S2 DVD, but gotta... tape... it each week so I have it) Desperate Housewives, Lost, Greys Anatomy, Smallville, Bones, Kitchen Confidential, How I Met Your Mother, Everwood, Reunion, and Supernatural. The last two are thanks to Grailwolf who in his blog said they are good shows. Now I'm hooked. Wonderful. PLUS NHL is back this season, so there's even more TV watching. Oh well, I guess school gets the short end of the stick this time around. Even though I paid for it this time... urg. There needs to be more hours in a day.

Been a While

Well, it's been a while since I've posted a blog. Of course, it's been a while since I've cared about this site... ever since that postfest it just isn't the same. Which is too bad, because I really liked it here. I'm sure I could get back into it if I wanted, and it's nothing against any of the people involved in the postfest, all great people I'm sure... just whoa! That's a lot of posts. Oh well... we'll see how the next little while goes.
