*vmarsrox118 Blog

home

This blog's title comes from the very much overplayed Chris Daughtry song.

So, today I came home from Maine.  I went on a speedboat (cold, windy, and painful, but CRAZY FUN!), kayaked (cruel and unusual punishment), swan in a freezing cold lake, "accidently" fell off a dock in said lake, visited tourist trap shops, hiked (great view of the beach, but physically exhausting), watched a lumberjack show (surprisingly fun, but a lot of kiddie humor), etc. Basically, I did stuff everyone does in Maine.

Oh, and I went gocarting. (*gasping from audience*) According to several reliable sources, driving a gocart is like driving a regular car, except less cramped. So I guess it's only fair to everyone to BEWARE THE SIDEWALKS when I get my drivers license in three years.  LMFAO. I am so taking Driver's Ed next year.

A Cool YouTube Video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKMesCAe44Q

(This movie only makes sense if you actually watch the whole thing.)

Band to Listen To (If You Like Punk or Alternative Rock, or any bands from UK):

The Fratellis (they toured with The Police on that reunion tour)

Quote Of The Day:

"Ever since I was a little girl, I had this fairy-tale idea of the perfect wedding. And, oh yeah, I always ended up married! Pff!"

-Elliot Reid

P.S.,

Just as a note to all of the nonexistant people out there who read my blog (ha.  ha.), I will be using a new theme for it. Basically, it will go like this:

TITLE: the title of a song/movie i'm listening to/watching or that describes my current mood. Or it could just be a random song I picked out. Followed by an explanation of the title.

BODY: My life, be it social, school, romantic (yeah. right.), etc. A new band I've discovered. Links to cool YouTube videos. Shows or movies I've watched today. Whatever.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: self-explanatory

WHAT I'M LISTENING TO: ditto.

Also, just as a note, if I'm in a bad mood, I might just ignore the format that I just presented. Boo hoo.

my first blog in a while

wow. it's been like 2 months since my last post. that seems like an eternity.

so...since my last post, i've gone to 3 camps: CTY, this cooking camp (where i knew everything they taught, seriously), and a week-long camp for stringed instrument players. special.

and i read the last harry potter book. it was great except for the epilogue, which was total crap. and (MAJOR SPOILER ALERT FOR THE FEW WHO HAVEN'T READ THIS) how are we expected to accept the fact that snape is a furry-hearted good samaritan? (SPOILERS END HERE).

quote of the day:
Harold Crick: So, are you a frequenter of the Metropolitan Transit Authority too?
Ana Pascal: No. I'm just late. Harold Crick: Big flag burning to get to?
Ana Pascal: Actually, it's my weekly evil-conspiracy and needlepoint group. You wanna come?
Harold Crick: I left my thimbles and socialist reading material at home.

Other news: I went swimsuit shopping and bought 3 suits......2 days until I leave for camp......and I made this slideshow that I was going to put on my account, but it can't upload. :(

OMG, I'm a Level 8!!!

yay!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a super-friend!!!!!!

Other news: I'm labeling stuff that I'm packing for camp, which is taking FOREVER......For Y&R fans, they're recasting Adrianne Leon (who plays Colleen) with some Australian (no offense to Australians, and I'm blanking on the actress's name right now)......I had my annual checkup (I had 2 tubes of blood sucked out of my arm, which now has a small but colorful bruise, plus I got the meningitis shot because I'm going to be living in a college dorm for the next 3 weeks, so my arm is sore)......I almost fainted after that appointment (but not from the blood test), I think due to the fact that I hadn't eaten in almost 24 hours (which I'll never do again), and my legs felt like they were going to collapse under me......I watched two of the episodes of Friends that Eddie Cahill is in (gotta love those eyes)......and I'm going swimsuit shopping tomorrow (which, *sarcastically* should be fun, fun, fun, to quote Meg Manning, may she rest in peace).

My favorite songs right now:
The Killers-- When you were young
Snow Patrol-- Open Your Eyes

Quote of the day:
Natalie: (watching Titanic) What kind of dumb b*tch lets Leonardo DiCaprio drown?

Quality TV Shows That Were Canceled

Veronica Mars
Gilmore Girls
7th Heaven
The O.C.
Close to Home
Smith
Jericho (well, it WAS canceled, but then they ordered a few more episodes. But still.)

What I'm Listening to Right Now:
the Veronica Mars soundtrack

Quote of the day:
Phoebe: Paige, make love, not...you know. There's no door love can't open, no wall love can't climb, no hurdle love can't... hurdle.

Moulin Rouge!
Cheaper by the Dozen remake (and anything else with Steve Martin)
RV
10 Things I Hate About You
Ocean's Eleven
Ocean's Twelve
Ocean's Thirteen

Note: this list is just movies that I can think of at the moment. Please don't be heartbroken if your favorite comedy isn't on the list.

Anyway, so today I went on a MAJOR shopping spree. I went clothes shopping (and tried on just about everything in the store), and also bought stuff to decorate/furnish my dorm for my Race in Politics course thing at the Johns Hopkins camp.  I bought hundreds of dollars worth of stuff at Gap, The Container Store, and Bed Bath & Beyond.  Because of that, I missed Young and the Restless and most of As the World Turns. And I watched the end of that episode in The O.C. when Kirsten's dad dies.

I also started reading The Devil Wears Prada (a little foul-mouthed, but then again, what book isn't these days?). And I watched Superman Returns and Dawson's Creek reruns on TBS.

My favorite song right now:
The Killers-- When You Were Young

My least favorite song right now:
the theme song from Dawson's Creek

Quotes of the day (from Superman Returns):
Clark: Thanks for giving me my old job back.
Perry: Don't thank me. Thank Norm Palmer for dying. (walks away)
Jimmy: It was his time.

Happy Father's Day, and other things

Okay, so I know everyone has been talking about this in their blogs. Anyway. Several days ago, I logged on to my account, to discover that I'm apparently a level 2. And, I know, a lot of people have gone down a lot more levels, but whatever. I'm still really po'd.

I also went on a major book shopping spree at Borders. Here's what I bought (I starred the ones I have to read for summer reading)

The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger
The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
The Accidental by Ali Smith
*Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee (we're going to read this during the year)
*Boy-- Tales of Childhood by Roald Dahl
*The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More by Roald Dahl
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

I also bought the Music & Lyrics soundtrack. And, I think I've said this before, but I recommend this movie to everyone, it's really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really RE-HEALLY funny.

Okay, so the movies I've seen this weekend are Circle of Friends (starring a really young Minnie Driver, Chris O'Donnell, Alan Cumming, and other people), Herbie: Fully Loaded (I think we all know who starred in this. Here's a hint: she drunkenly crashed her car into a tree), and Dogma (starring...too many people to list. Look it up if you want to know who)

And later today, my dad's barbecuing (he does that every weekend where it's sunny, it's practically his reason for living)

Oh, and last thing: my new banner is of Gaspard Ulliel, who's this French actor who played Hannibal and the fiancee in A Very Long Engagement.

Last pair of shoes I wore: white flats with cutouts

My favorite song right now:
Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore-- Way Back Into Love (Demo Version)

Quotes of the day (these are from Dogma):
Metatron: Do you go around drenching everybody that comes into your room with flame-retardant chemicals? No wonder you're single.

(After a scuffle, Silent Bob chucks Bartleby and Loki out of the train. A shocked passenger gawks)
Silent Bob: No ticket.

Ocean's Thirteen, Part One

Okay. So, on Sunday I went to see (cue drumroll)......Ocean's Thirteen.  (triumphant trumpet playing)  Well, it's like the same thing as the other two, but still RE-HEALLY (Scrubs reference) fantastic.  The same outrageous, sarcastic, dry, etc. plotlines and humor. (However, I missed half an hour of the movie, on account of the fact that I was running to the bathroom half the time, puking--I ate some bad fish at dinner and got food poisoning.)

My thoughts on it:
(WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THESE CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS TO THE PLOT! SOME OF THESE )
- Yay!  Catherine Zeta-Jones and Julia Riberts weren't in this one!!!  Catherine Zeta-Jones was wearing that fake-looking wig in the last one. And nothing against Julia Roberts, or anything, I think she's a great actress, but seriously.
- Matt Damon's huge prosthetic nose was hilarious.  I love how it got in the way when he was trying to chug that glass of champagne.
- Some of the costumes were really outrageous.

I also saw the first fifteen minutes of The Virgin Suicides. It's REALLY creepy but good. (It also features Hayden Christensen pre-Star Wars. But I won't get into that.)

Other things: I started violin camp this week. And I watched this show called "Creature Comforts". It's made by the people who made Wallace and Gromit (great movies, if you haven't seen them, they do everyone some good). What they did is they interviewed your average joes on certain topics, and then they animate clay animals with the people's voices. It's really funny..

Color of my nails: French manicure (it screams "I'm a ditz, and I'm proud of it". Which is not how I want to be seen. But I like how it looks.)

Favorite song right now:
The Killers-- Mr. Brightside

Least favorite song right now:
Sean Kingston-- Beautiful Girls

10 things I've learned from Scrubs

4. Always shmear mango body butter on a bagel.
5. Everything comes down to poo.
6. Never trust The Janitor. You could end up in the middle of nowhere in a hospital gown
7. Hooch is crazy
8. If you've finished high school, we can safely assume you are 8.
9. Eating tomatoes and carrots will turn you orange
10. Hide inside a jukebox when played Hide and go Seek

Last movie I saw: Music and Lyrics (really really really really really really really funny)

My Least Favorite Songs right now:
Sean Kingston-- Beautiful Girls
Lil' Mama-- Lip Gloss

My favorite song right now:
Cascada-- Miracle

your fly is down

Hahaha...i don't know why i put that as my title.

So, tomorrow is the last day of the school year. In other words, tomorrow, I will be in eighth grade. (I feel so special.) For the past few days, in the time I usually spend studying/doing homework, I've been watching various movies, General Hospital, and old reruns of The OC, 7th Heaven, Gilmore Girls, Scrubs, and Charmed. And not updating my blog. (Boo hoo.)
And there's really not that much to update, so......whatever.
Feel free to comment

Days until Ocean's 13 is released in the US: 2 (I checked)

Last pair of shoes I wore: skull-print Converses

Quote of the day:
Moe: All your stuff? Frak. That blows.
Veronica: Qu'est-ce que c'est? "Frak"?
Moe: No Battlestar Galactica fans in the mix, I see? "Frak" is the profanity of the future. I'm trying not to swear.
Veronica: That's very enlightened of you, Moe. So, what the frak is with this Hearst Welcome Wagon commitee?
Moe: Well, first off, there's no such thing. So there's that. Biscotti?
