The hyped exclusives (and console exclusives) for 360 and PS3 in 08 and 09.

This list DOES NOT include all hyped exclusives, as everybody's OPINION of what is considered a hyped exclusive can vary. Here is my take on what the 360 and PS3 offer in 08 and 09.

----------------------------------------08

360 - Gears of War 2, Banjo 3, Fable 2, Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise, Ninja Gaiden 2, Too Human.

Lesser Exclusives - Lost Odessey, Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of Vesperia. TOTAL = 9

PS3 - Little Big Planet, Resistence 2, Motorstorm 2, MGS4, SOCOM. TOTAL = 5

In 08, I feel that the 360 clearly has advantage in software over PS3. Surely the PS3 has other exclusives in 08, but I doubt they are as hyped as the games listed. And this isnt even including the console exclusives like Left for Dead and Frontlines: Fuel of War.

----------------------------------------09

360 - Alan Wake, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Halo Wars, Cry On, Halo Chronicles, Forza 3, Mass Effect 2, DOA 5. TOTAL = 8

PS3 - Killzone 2, GT5, GOW 3, FF13, FFV13, Next Insomiac game (next Rachet?), Uncharted 2. TOTAL = 7

Lets explain each 09 list.

360 explanation - Alan Wake is hyped and is expected to deliever. For SC, every SC entry has gone platnium on the XBox platform ALONE so this will show promise, especially with it going in a new direction. With Halo Wars, whether fanboys like it or not, this has potential to be one of the best console rts's and will sell 1-2 million for the Halo name alone, deal. Cry on, the next jrpg from the creator of FF, this is expeded to hit in 09, and shows potential as it will be a LO esque game. Halo Chronicles will obviously be MS ace in the hole during the holidays, I expect it to be done by then. The time it took Forza 2 to be completed after Forza 1 was 2.5 years. By holiday of 09, Forza 2 will be 2.5 years old.... I could see this game being released in 09. Same with ME 2. ME laid the goundwork, ME2 could very well hit in late 09. DOA 5 is just begging to be announced by this E3. The past 2 entries, DOA 3 and 4, each broke a million on Xbox platforms if there are any doubters.

PS3 explanation - Finally these games (KZ2 and GT5 will hit and cows can finally stop hyping them) will come. Insomiac and Naughty Dog will probably make another Rachet and Uncharted game, its expected. But to be honest, I dont see GOW3, and BOTH FF's making the 09 release dates. If thats right, MS will YET AGAIN beat PS3 in software in 09.

Conclusion: the 360 clearly has more quality and quantity then PS3 in both 08 and possibly 09, if the delays with PS3 keep up that is.

PS3/360 comparison threads should include 360/PC games

We got threads left and right comparing the 360 and PS3's 08 lineups. Why do the cows convientely leave out the 360/PC games?

They arent exclusive, HOWEVER:

1. For console gamers, those games cant be found anywhere else except 360.

2. When comparing the 360 and PS3 lineup, those games are simply and undeniabily on 360 and NOT PS3.

3. If they are good games, so what if they have a PC version? If it aint on PS3 then it deserves to be part of 360's list.

To name a few off the top of my head:

Frontlines: Fuel of war (better then Haze), Age of Conan, Left for Dead (Big game here), Supreme Commander, C&C 3: Kanes Wrath, Warhammer, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, Two Worlds: Temptation.

For a few PC/360 games listed there (much more 08 ones, they all are or have AA potential. So when comparing 360's and PS3's 08 games, throw in 360/PC and PS3/PC games as well.

Too bad there arent any PS3/PC games lol.

I am a completely different person while in System Wars.....

It happened. I am now officially one of the top lemmings on system wars. When I got my account, I promised I would make a difference in the forums, for better or for worse, and I have done that. People recognize my name and something I said was even sig worthy. I am not proud of this by any means, this means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. I simply acknowledge my situation in SW.

However something just gets into me when I enter SW. Basically I am a different person compared to me in the real world and on Xbox LIVE.

On LIVE multiplayer, I am first and formost polite and curdious to whoever I am playing with. Since I am a 360 supporter, I have respect for other people who choose to spend their time on 360 multiplayer. I am competitive and I restrain myself from pissing anybody off. I only fire back if I am fired at first for no reason. Don't believe me? Add me to your friends list, say you met me on Gamespot, and ill prove I am nothing like my posts on this site.

As for real life, I go to university as an English major also pursuing advertising. Only when I got some time to kill is when I go on SW and annoy some PS3 supporters. Posting on SW is a small hobby among many. Almost none of my friends are gamers, so we just hang out, go out, but we talk about more important topics, cause I do admit that video game fanboy wars is admittedly fun, but trivial all the same.

POINT - So on SW I talk anti PS3 and pro 360 with a passion. But outside of the internet and in real life, Im a great guy living a productive life, who is also a pleasantly competitive person on Xbox Live. Add me on your friends list, I think youll be surprised how different I act when Im not posting on how much Sony deserves to go bankrupt.

Wii success, PS3 loosing its PS2 dominance, and 360 progress = Perfect Industry

I am a pro capitalist. So one can understand why I got a little upset that the PS1 and PS2 murdered the competition. The Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn were deprived of sales and developer support. The PS2 drove Sega out of the industry and had enough developer support to prevent the Xbox and Gamecube from gaining any meaningful foothold. I think Sony was "this close" to turning the gaming industry into a gaming dictatorship, an industry without competition and real innovation.

Then you can also understand why I am a happy camper this generation.

The Wii

- Nintendo is once again reaping the benefits of being #1 with overall hardware sales. Why do I approve? Because they arent pulling a "Sony". Sony on one hand achieved superier sales but crippled the competition. Wii however, is gaining most of its sales from casual gamers. Sure some are loyal Nintendo fans, but it is common knowledge that the Wii is pulling in more then just the hardcore gamer.

This is good for the industry because this leaves room for the competition to grow in the hardcore market. Bravo Wii for giving the competition a chance to thrive while making a killing in profits!

The PS3

- How the mighty have fallen. Instead of ruling the industry with an iron fist, they are now left fighting over the hardcore market that the 360 claimed with a year head start. The PS3 is playing catch-up, which is a fitting punishment for its ruthless dominance in previous generations.

However it is helping Sony make a profit, and at least it has decent sales. Its not like the PS3 is crippled, they are doing fine and are carving out a legitimate piece of the consumer pie.

The 360

- MS is finally getting some breathing room to expand the Xbox brand. Sicne the Wii has casual appeal, the 360 is free to develop its relationship with the hardcore market. With its attach ratio of 7.5 games, it has greatly improved over Xbox. Also, MS is now making a consistent profit off the 360, a drastic imporvement over the previous generation. With greater developer support and a growing online community, and all points mentioned above, the Xbox 360 is all ready labelled as a success.

Conclusion

Unlike previous generations, this one has all 3 consoles as "winners". Wii is making a killing but isnt interfering with Sony or MS too much to make them crippled in sales. PS3 is now reduced to a average selling console that still gives Sony profit. And the 360 is improving over Xbox in every concievable way, giving MS profit and having the highest software attach ratio of the 3.

Clearly, all 3 consoles are healthy in sales in both hardware and software. No one console is crippling the other.

My thoughts on Europeans and their brand loyalty to Sony.

All my thoughts are based off of sales predictions from Vgchartz.com

This is no fanboy rant. I know where this religious brand loyalty comes from. Apparently, Europeans were big on PC gaming until the PS1 came out. It was Sony's first console that gave games that Europeans wanted to play. This was due to the lack of competition in software libraries from the Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn. Sure, each of the two had great games, but PS1 had superior developer support.

This was made even stronger when the PS2 came out. The Xbox developed a niche for violent/driving games and the Gamecube was a staple for Nintendo franchises. But again, Sony had superior developer support and secured a lot of big name exclusives like Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, and the timed exclusivity of Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas.

So that where we are today with Europeans. That's why they have completely ridiculous, religious, zealous, blind, and unflinching loyalty to Sony products this generation. It's weird, the PS3 is selling almost as well as the PS2 is, yet the PS3 costs so much more and the big name games are on 360 and Wii. Gran Turismo Prologue is selling over 500 000 in two weeks, will break a million in a month in Europe alone. And for what? To play a meaty demo? This is even causing Europeans to buy a PS3. Buying PS3 to play a demo? Lol this is what Microsoft has to compete with.........

I mean, its like Europeans ignore what the 360 has. They love racing games. 360 gives them PGR 3, 4, and Forza 2. Sure, they all sold reasonably well and made a profit for MS, yet NONE sold half as well as any Gran Turnismo game in Europe. Forza 2 is even bundled in some parts of Europe. The answer is brand recognition. WHen Europeans think of a racer, they think Gran Turismo. They automatically assume that Forza and PGR aren't worth their time when in fact Forza 2 has arguably all the gameplay that GT5 will have, just with less graphical power. It's confusing that Forza 2 is staring Europeans in the face yet they would rather buy the DEMO of the next Gran Turismo. That's consumer ignorance for you..........

The Wii is not affected. It seems in Europe the Wii is bought as a complement to the PS3, bought by parents for their children. Basically, the fact that Wii is marketed as a casual system bybasses gamers devotion to Sony.

The Xbox 360 is in a uphill battle. It currently has a million lead to the PS3 tdue to the year and 4 months extra time in the region. This will definately change come years end. Its strange since there are many big name games on 360 that aren't on PS3. The 360 also costs less. Even with the recent price drop, the 360 still is outsold by PS3 every week by about 40 000! Europeans would rather buy a PS3 for more then 100 Euros extra then to buy a recently-price-dropped 360. This is completely beyond my understanding of why the 360 isn't gaining on the PS3.

Part of this is due to the RROD fears. From what I understand Europeans value reliability more then Americans do. Another, and MAJORITY part is again, Europeans have mostly gamed on a Sony console. They will not and can not buy another brand that is different from the brand that they have liked in the past. Did I mention that Europeans have a unhealthy brand loyalty obsession (not just with Sony, but with all products they use)?

My point: Microsoft has a lot of work to do to NOT gain ground, but at least be a legimate competitor in the region. To further combat the brand loyalty to Sony, I seriosuly recomend marketing exclusives for the year and droppiong the price again by the holiday.

Hello. I am a 360 and DS gamer. Heres what you can expect from me.

Hello everybody who should come across my page. I am a 360 gamer, as I don't have the budgets for a multiple console experience lol. I also game on a DS Lite. First, a quick story on how I chose a 360 and DS.

- I have owned Nintendo systems since the SNES days. I have also owned every Nintendo handheld since the GBC.

- When Wii was coming out, I was excited. I was gonna buy it if Red Steel, Excite truck, and Zelda scored really good. Turns out the first two games shot my excitement level lol. I then decided to hold off on a Wii and buy the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess.

- I started seeing all these great 360 and PS3 releases and I was tempted. I looked at what the Wii offered. To be honest, I was only looking forward to Smash Brothers Brawl and Metroid Prime 3 (this is Nov. 2006). I also thought that motion controls werent for me. I decided to do my research on the 360 and PS3.

- *****Based on the above point, I in no way not like the Wii. The Wii is great. My needs however have differed from what Nintendo offers its consumers, but that doesn't mean I lost respect for Nintendo. Call it a clean breakup. After all, I still love my DS.*****

- I did research into the 360 and PS3. I have always liked the Halo series (I loved the story) but never got a chance to fully play them and I was blown away by Gears of War. Halo 3 was promising at the time and I was budget conscious (PS3 costed $600 then remember). As for PS3, I wasnt sure if bluray would succeed (again, nov. 06), and the lack of must-have games made my decision final.

- On April 29, I bought a Xbox Elite. I got a cold basement so Im not scared about RROD in the slightest lol.

- As for DS, I bought a white DS Lite on launch day. I got MP Hunters for the Wifi, Advance Wars DS cause I love that series, and others like FF3, Pokemon Pearl, and Metroid Pinball (its actually pretty good).

- My reason for not getting a PSP was simple. I LOVE things that fold. PSP does not fold. Plus DS Lite was cheaper and sleeker.

There you go, some backround. Expect to hear pro DS and 360 blogs. While it has its strengths, expect to hear some anti-PS3 topics. In no way will my blogs by fanboyish. ***I am pro DS and 360, but I pride myself on using logic to support my claims.*** Hopefully you all like what you read.
