Picked up:
Halo 2 (PC) - 42.99
Shadowrun (PC) - Free
Half-Life 2: Episode One - 19.99
So Circut City is having some crazy deal this week where if you buy Halo 2 on the PC you get a free copy of Shadowrun. Since I just put together my new computer (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz, GeForce 8800GTS, 2gb DDR2 800, Sound Blaster X-Fi, sorry had to pimp it) I just had to get some new games to show it off and couldn't pass up this deal. Even Halo 2 was 10 bucks less than normal. Crazy.

Well yes, those are the big series. The ones that the majority of people on the site care about. But they cover some moreobscure stuff from time to time.
But this feature was pretty much what I expected.GameSpot's features haven't been all that great since Carrie left, but hey, EBA and Gurumin. There is some overlooked stuff among the well-knowns.

I disagree with EBA. it got too much media coverage and too many people know it.
I agree; the game isn't actually "niche." Well, it is, because it's this fully-insane Japanese rythym game thing, but a lot of positive reviews from websites and magazines pushed it out into the open.Psychonauts also got a lot of positive reviews yet sold very poorly. Same for Beyond Good & Evil. Good reviews don't really mean good sales.
I think you guys might be expecting more out of this feature than Gamespot intended. From the opening paragraph, it seems to me that they're trying to target people who may only have a handful of games in thier collection and want a quick and easy way of changing that. Most, if not all, of these games can easily be picked up at a Best Buy or Wal-Mart. Obviously most of us either already own these games or at least know of them so aiming the article at us would have been pointless. Also making the game selection too obscure would have alienated the audiance they were aiming at.
I also noticed that buried in the pile of games that are fairly mainstream there's one or two little oddities sticking out like Gurumin or Elite Beat Agents. This, to me, seems like a sly attempt on Gamespot's part to maybe expand people's gaming tastes. I mean right there, sandwiched between a GTA game and A Metal Gear game is Gurumin. Now imagine old Joe Madden-Fan looking at this list and thinking "Well maybe the game is worth playing". That seems like the real point of the article to me.
Some games I picked up recently:
Forza Motorsports 2 - Xbox 360
Gunvalkrie - Xbox
Kingdom Hearts 2 - PS2
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon - GBA
I have decided i will not vote for any system without a dreamcast reference or picture in it. :) It is my favorite system after all ;)falconclan
Then you are in luck as my banner has a picture of Soul Caliber in it.
