But, while kubo chose to use this arc for all these functions, I think ginjou's primary objective as a character, (not the others, just talking about ginjou here,) was quite literally to be a buzzkill and put things into perspective. It reminds the reader that not all enemies are super awsome and elite. Helps the reader to remember that those kind of super elite badasses are actually RARE, and that the only reason this story sees so many of them is because its taking place around them.
You see this become a problem in other manga's sometimes. They'll start out talking about how powers like that are so rare, yet as the story progresses, just about everyone has them...the author forgets to put things into perspective periodically, so it starts to look like a power-clash-fest, wherein *everyone* is considered badass.
