Those movies aren't really spoofs per se - the creators set out to make legit horror/action comedies and had utmost repsect for the source material.
Syphilitic drive like date movie, meet the spartans, etc (not even worth capitilising the titles) are people attempting to use the same jokes that are in the original movies by simply ramming them in willy nilly - hohoho it's Borat in a mankini! James Bond in narnia, oh stop my sides! HA, Myspace and Emo joke!

Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are NOT spoof movies. They are tributes.
Because he knew that if he made the prequels back in the day, that the Star Wars franchise would have bombed, and that he could sucker all the dumb***es in today's world to think that they are good movies.
