I'd choose capitalism just because communism can never be a true success. Too many individuals are inherently greedy.Calypto
Which is also the problem with capitalism, it promotes the greed in humanity. Capitalism can never be a true success either

Which one is the 'better' system?

Capitalism leads to greater opportunities for individuals. The US is wealthy because of it. It's a free marketplace where you can choose what you want to do. The government stays out of the way.

Communism, on the other hand, is controlled by society. Everyone partakes and shares the income. Individual rights aren't all that important.

Personally, I think capitalism is much better for individuals, whereas communism is better for a society that works together and is more altruistic than selfish.

Which do you guys think is the 'better' system, for individual purposes and for societal purposes?

If you want us to compare ideology's strictly, then of course communism. If you want real world usage, then thats hard. The US hasnt been capitalist since Hoover, in fact i don't think any capitalist countries exist today while some applicational communist countries still linger after the cold war. Communism=big government=easy to corrupt as where there is power, there lies the ability for its misusage and corruption, and where there lies great power, there lies an even higher chance for it. Every attempt at communism failed and led to totalitarian dictatorship in the end.

While Capitalism rapes the poor in benefit to the rich. Everything is privatized, and the system feeds itself as no free education means more easily controled masses while the rich learn. Societys wealth goes to the top 5-10% while the rest starve to death, work unbearably long hours in unsafe and often fatal conditions all the while earning barely enough to keep themselves alive to be exploited another day, and sometimes not.

Of the two i really can't decide, capitalism and communism in their pure applicational forms both suck, mixed structures (between socialism and capitalism) that all western countries possess today are leagues ahead.
