Only in general terms as I'm not an expect by any means. There are three main shapes for a television. 4:3 which is your standard square box. 16:9 which is widescreen and 16:10 which is widescreen but slightly taller. I think you'd want a a 16:9 as not many devices (including the PS3) support 16:10 and so the TV has to stretch the picture to fit. 1080p refers to the resolution which is 1920×1080 pixels on the screen. This is a 16:9 picture and should support most new gen devices.

Talking to me duane? Helps to either quote the text you're answering to or use the name (or OP) in reference. Define "not made for that" Does it have a split screen mode? Yes. Does it have both vertical and horizontal splitscreen? Yes. But due to some arbitary decision by the developers of what is better for the user on their opinion. You get horizontal in SD and vertical in HD. Even to make the game do that would of taken some coding. How about, instead of spending that time coding the game to make its own decision, just give the user the decision? Simple.
Just to muddle the waters a little bit more. My TV supports 1080i at the top end, so when games come up that do support Full HD, what will they look like in 1080i? Or should I just use 720p? (currently I have both checked in the display settings as Resistance complained about 1080i....)
Amen brother. It can be fun kicking some anonymous ass, but theres nothing quite like seeing the look on a friends face as the pwn him. One of my best mates and I have come close to a fist fight before over a result, and I'm not exagerating. ;)
