Generic ending was fighting Illusive Man in a boss fight.Instead it became Mass Effect 1's generic ending where Saren argues and/or offs himself in the same way... sans the fight with the boss's "dead" body afterwards.

It's not about winning... it's about sending a message...

I feel like I have read this before...

One bigger thing that we should be worried about in our society is the 50-year war we've waged against the Middle-east... You're not going to get peace by killing people, you're just going to get angry vengeful people and a lot more dead people.

I hope they keep the shitty ending so everyone can continue to bitch about how terrible it was.
