Yeah, quite honestly I really wasn't expecting much of anything from CoD: WaW. Never played the beta, but from what I've been reading, not really any reason to now.zomglolcats

Played the COD:WaW Beta and man is the gunplay in that game just bad!

That being said i've heard the FC2 multiplayer is nothing special either and in some cases sort of broken or just generally not fun to play.

Wasn't the open beta mean't to start in October and well, the month of October is pretty much done and dusted now. I have a feeling this will be a game which just gets dusted under the carpet due to lack of interest and marketing.

  • Bad optimisation in games. Not everyone has a supercomputer or can afford to upgrade to the newest GPU when its released.
  • Poor customer support from developers and publishers when it comes to updates, patches or generally issues you need to contact the help desk for.
  • Developers and Publishers crying about piracy being the reason they've gone multiplatform. I wish they would just admit they want to be open to a wider market for financial gain on their part. I have no problem with them doing this i just hate how they blame piracy and PC gamers for their decision to do this.
  • Being able to carry enough explosives and weapons to blow up a small country but i can't get past the wooden door infront of me because i forgot to loot the key or password from some obscure enemy.
  • People who hate Steam.
  • Games being released with more bugs than a rainforest has. Please stop releasing games that feel and play like a beta stage release.
  • Bad voice acting or lack of it in games makes me sad. In this day and age its just as important to get the voice acting to a good level as it is the visuals. Especially if a game has a lot of dialogue or cutscenes.
  • Developers employing Americans to voice non-American characters. Its not hard to find someone in the USA who isn't an American to voice act a non-American.
  • Constantly playing as an American in almost every game in existance. Please there is other countries on this planet, look at a map randomly pick one, it isn't that hard to find them.
  • For every main character in a game thats female there is about 10 main characters who are male in other games. This needs to change and as a guy myself i do get bored of playing some beefed up hooligan all the time. Give me some eye candy...god bless Lara Croft.
  • British accents in games always being upper class and posh or being cockney. How about some Scottish? Scouser? or hell even Geordy!
  • Russia always being put in the "bad guy" role in games.
  • Games being set in the unnamed middle eastern countries. God just call it Iraq and set the game in 2020 or something...
  • EA - DRM, i shall say no more on this that hasn't already been said before.
  • Valve delaying games that i want to play now, WORK FASTER DAMN YOU!
  • WW2 games, just let this genre of FPS die. Please i don't think i could actually handle playing the Normandy beach again...and again...and again...
  • Fanatsy Setting MMO's, there are enough of them so please god stop making them. Make a modern day FPS MMO where players form guerilla armies and have mass PvP wars between factions / guilds.
  • Expansion Packs - stop wasting time developing them and start making a sequel instead, yes i'm talking to Valve and Crytek here.
  • PC gamers that own consoles and buy the console version of every multiplatform game that comes out.
  • The lack of mainstream coverage of the PC as a gaming platform at events like E3.
  • DX10 being Vista only.
  • Developers saying they have been inovative and unique when they have really just taken the same idea from an older game and reworded the concept.
  • Dropping updates and support for a game once a handfull of patches have been released but the game still has bugs and issues in it.
  • People hating on Valve or Blizzard.
  • Nerfing - when developers feel the need to nerf a class or ability in a game so much that it becomes utterly useless they have failed to balance the game. Sadly most nerfs in MMO's seem to be like this. Guild Wars being a prime example.
  • Art styles being all "modern", "realisitic" and generally "dull" in colouring. What ever happened to bright and imaginative art styles for a games setting.
There is more but i've hit a mental block now...

Guild Wars

However, as a Robert E.Howard fan and the great vibes from Funcom's latest patch, I'm betting I would enjoy immersing myself in Age of Conan.

AFBrat77

I am exactly the same as the recent AoC patch made me restart my subscription and continue playing, its really improved the game performance and overall feel of the game now. However the activity is a little low...no doubt due to WAR.

Still GW got my vote, loved that game and still love it. Paragon and Ranger ftw!

on the site i go to, the 4870x2 is in the mid $400 range with a few gettign to the 500s and 600s. the gtx280 is in the mid $300s, still alot though

response to your question, ive found a site in the uk similar to ones i use they list the gtx260 for £246.80 ex VAT
£289.99 inc VAT, i copied that off the website

cornholio157

VAT is Value Added Tax and here in the UK its 17.5% its essentially a tax added onto the price of an item that we have to pay here. It can increase the overall price of a PC build by quite a bit. Thats why things like the GPU's i mentioned can be rather costly and go well over my budget :S

4870x2 in the end is mostly better for majority of game. marcthpro

I've got nothing against it other than its price lol. If i could actually afford to buy it and the other components i've had suggested in the past i definately would buy it. But back on topic what do the rest of you think would be good to have in a new PC?

Anyone know some decnet UK based sites that custom build PC's?

you could also try a gtx260, its a bit cheaper than the gtx280 and still has good performancecornholio157

I was looking at it as an alternative but wasn't sure what the performance was like. My problem with the 4870x2 and GTX280 is their both, here in the UK anyway, at around the £350-£380 price range on a lot of retail and online stores. And i believe if my conversions are right its roughly double in dollars.

[QUOTE="1005"]Anyone else have some suggestions to offer? The GPU's that you mention Sordidus are sort of pricey...webstaxero

What's the point of having a $2000 build if you're not going to put the latest and greatest into it?

Because here in the UK both the GTX280 and the 4870x2 are pretty pricey, after looking around and trying to find all the parts Sordidus suggested it went a little too far over my £1000 budget lol. Is there any chance either of those two cards might see a price drop anytime soon?
