The key words here being "if" and "upgrade". I just have a laptop so I am going to have to shell out about $1100 or so to build a desktop to play next gen games. $1100 is a substantial amount more than what a PS4 would cost.

lol, no you wouldn't need $1100 to build a pc that is able to keep up with the PS4 You can put together a complete tower with windows for under $800 and would out perform the PS4 by a good margin. and i wouldnt see it vs exclusives and mostlikely the pc fanboy developers make the pc versions purposely look better
I don't think anyone's ever tried to argue in quantitative numbers when talking about PC gamers. Hermits don't gloat that there is a massive amount of people with superior hardware than consoles, they gloat that THEY have better hardware than consoles now, and than the consoles that will come out come next generation. And that is a fact: you could tell me that 99% of the PC gamers have hardware worse than a Dreamcast, that still wouldn't change the fact that my desktop computer is better than current generation consoles, will continue to be better than next-generation consoles and will therefor be able to run better games and the better version of games released on both platforms.
There's also the fact that high-end PCs have been bottlenecked by console hardware for nearly half a decade, now, what with a great majority of AAA games being developed for console hardware, and only marginally improved for computers. To put it in an analogy: PC gamers are adults, and console gamers are children. Since children can't drive cars, everyone gets bicycles :lol:.

Not many PC gamers have 670's or 780's, most of them have lower end cards or even integrated cards.

But comparing power, most PC gamers will find that games on next gen consoles look better.
most on this forum will be in denial and will start posting screens not side by side gameplays proving that pc has better graphics as always same from ps3s generation
