I'm sure that most of you have played Halo 2 by now and if you haven't, you should.
Either way, I hate to hear all these threads about how gamers are feeling "cheated" by Bungie for the "garbage", "rushed-job", "add-on" to the original Halo.
Honestly, Halo 2's storyline is one of those things that you have to appreciate Bungie going the distance to give some background on why we're playing what we're playing. Not just "Halo's" that destory things, but actually giving us incite into the universe that Bungie has created.
So much talk has been about how much Bungie didn't add any gameplay elements into the game that were "new" or "innovative"; yet I beg to differ.
***SPOILERS***
Going through the different sides of the campaign as the covenant and Master Chief was a nice and refreshing twist to the conflict of Halo and how they interact with each other. Being able to see how each side is trying to 1up the other in gaining the advantage, is quite cool to partake in. ***MAJOR SPOILERS** Also note that probably one of the best levels was playing as the Arbator and cutting the cables and free falling from the Command Station. I mean, I haven't experienced anything like that in a LONG time, kudos to Bungie for a great moment in the game.
Sure, I bet most people are dissapointed in no real "new" vehicles or gameplay mechanics (dual wielding, should've been in Halo 1 blah blah) etc, however I think little tweaks to the game actually make Halo 2 a more complete game than Halo was.
Honestly in the end, Bungie set out to do a couple things: 1.) Tell us a story. 2.) Make an action/adventure game while providing action, puzzles and awesome gaming moments (as mentioned above) 3.) Build upon the successful multiplayer mode that made Halo so popular.
Honestly, I think Bungie/MS did something that few people/companies can do, improve gameplay, create a story that holds interest that basically will leaving you wanting Halo 3 and giving us an extremely fun multiplayer mode.
Just my 2 cents.
