[QUOTE="1stCommando"][QUOTE="blackngold29"][QUOTE="1stCommando"][QUOTE="blackngold29"] Just like the Nazi flage doesn't stand for killing Jews?blackngold29
That was a random question. How would I know what the Nazi flag stands for? I'm not a Nazi so it would be ignorant for me to assume that it stands for killing Jews. I highly doubt the Nazis made the flag just to say, "kill jews" because the Nazis hated everyone that wasn't Aryan, not just Jews. Jews weren't the only ones in the concentration camps. Jews were the most abundant though, because there were a lot of Jews in Europe at the time.

That's ridiculous, you don't have to be something to know what it stands for. I don't have to be an olympian to know what the olympic flag stands for. I don't have to be a Toronto Blue Jay to know what their logo stands for.

Ok, well I don't know what the Nazi flag stands for, but I can assume they wouldn't make it mean, "kill jews" because they hated everyone that wasn't Aryan, not just Jews. Muslims, blacks, hispanics and any race that wasn't Aryan ended up in the concentration camps.

That's basically what I meant. None of us (as far as I know) are Nazis, but we can understand that Nazis didn't like people who weren't of the aryan race. So if I can understand that and not be a Nazi, how can you say I can't understand the Confederate flag if I'm not from the south?

Because obviously you DON'T understand it. The flag is not racism or slavery OK? Get it through your head. Why would I wave a flag that says, "look at me I want slavery to come back and I'm gonna go burn a cross in a black guy's yard"? That would just be asking to get shot. I wave a flag that says, "I'm proud of my southern heritage and I'll do anything to hang onto it".

[QUOTE="1stCommando"][QUOTE="blackngold29"][QUOTE="1stCommando"][QUOTE="blackngold29"][QUOTE="1stCommando"] Slavery was just the last straw, that's all. It's what pushed us over the edge. The Confederate flag isn't hurting you, so get over it. People like you me off- the people that are against things that they know nothing about. Now that I know it sickens a lot of northerners, I'm gonna wave it proudly every time I go up there. Let's see we'd definately destroy yall in a civilian war... just about all of us own guns(I have 12), most of us hunt so we have a good shot, we're crazy, a lot of us work on farms every day like me so we're in shape. In the north they want to outlaw guns, they're known for being lazy, and they underestimate us. -ArchAngeL-777-
Oh, are you gonna use all 12 at the same time? My dad has 12 brothers and sisters, every one hunts. All of their kids hunt. And I would say it's more accurate that most people want to ban hand guns, I know people who would kill themselves before not being able to hunt. Talk about people who don't know what they're talking about, you talk about the civil war like you were there.

I've done a lot of research about the Civil War during the past few years, because I'm directly related to Stonewall Jackson. And you have to be a southerner to know what the flag stands for. And as a southerner, I know it does not represent slavery or racism. Like I've said before, it represents pride and reminds us to fight for what we believe in. If you don't like people being proud or fighting for their beliefs then you should leave the country.

Just like the Nazi flage doesn't stand for killing Jews?

His point is perception. Regardless of what the Confederate flag truly stands for, it will always be perceived as the flag of a racist, slave-ridden south. Right or wrong, that is the way things are. It should be left in the past along with the Civil War. If you have one, keep it as a momento if you like. Just understand that if you wave it out somewhere or fly it off your truck, people will not see it as anything more than an obnoxious attempt at indirect racism. Just as the Nazi flag will forever be seen as a representation of the brutality against the Jews and terror unleashed by Hitler on the world. There is no way to divorce slavery from the Confederate flag. It has no place in a society that is trying to move on from that era.

Well I'm glad I don't live up North then, because then I wouldn't have people cheering me on as I'm driving. Everyone here likes it, and almost all the businesses fly it right underneath the American flag on the flag pole. People who wave the flag are just trying to say, "I'm proud to be a southerner". Yankees can be ignorant and think that everyone who flies the flag is a racist bigot, or think that people from Alabama don't wear shoes, like a person I met in Connecticut thought. Let them, we know we're better than that.

Violence is definitely the answer, especially when you deal with people you don't like for no good reason. :D

It would give me an excuse to beat him up haha

When you are fighting for slavery then there's something wrong. It's important to fight for what you believe in, but there are plenty of other less offensive things you could do to remind yourself of that. And the north hasn't gotten soft, we beat you once, we could do it again.

The South killed more yankees than the North killed southerners. And there's no way yall could beat us if it was a civilian fight with no military involved. And who said the Confederate Flag was for slavery? Slavery was only one of the reasons we seceded. We were tired of yall spending all this money industrializing the North, and not spending any money on the South. We were tired of the North lowering the price of cotton and other crops so much that we wouldn't even make a profit anymore. The Confederate flag represents pride not slavery. Get your mind out of the gutter.

There were many reasons, but Slavery was at the top of the list. And you have no basis that South civilians could beat northerners.

Slavery was just the last straw, that's all. It's what pushed us over the edge. The Confederate flag isn't hurting you, so get over it. People like you piss me off- the people that are against things that they know nothing about. The confederate flag whether you like it or not represents racist ideology.

Its the same with the swastika. It represents nazism. It will always represent it. Just because someone believes it doesnt make it so. It will ALWAYS be interpreted by intelligent people as what it means.

The confederation was a racist state. People don't hate the flag because they tried to seceed from the union. People hate it because they seceeded because they would not let go of their racist ways.

RKfromDownunder
Maybe it represents racism in your mind, but you're not a southerner so you have no idea what you're talking about. It's pride. When we see it we feel proud to be southerners. It reminds us to fight for what we believe in. If you seriously think it stands for purely racism, you need to wake up.
