Bye bye Kotor...

Mass Effect is coming out on May 22 and it looks to me like it will be much better than Kotor ever was. I know alot of people will yell at me for saying this, but i didn't like Kotor that much. For one thing the combat was kinda wonky. The frame rate stutters almost ruin the combat for me. Also the dialogue, although there were some standouts, wasn't that great. Most of the characters sounded really bland to me. After watching some of Mass Effect i saw that the frame rate was pretty stable and that the voices weren't as bland. The characters were also much more expressive (although this is probably due to the better graphics engine). Mass Effect is one of my most anticipated games and i hope it delivers. There are only a few questions i really have about it. One, is Bioware really going to meet the release date or is it going to get pushed back. I wouldn't mind if it got pushed back a month or two, but they better not do what Valve did with Half Life 2 The Orange Box and push it back to fall. My second question is this: Is Bioware really almost done and are they really just polishing things up like they said? I hope they are but something tells me they aren't. My last question is what is the downloadable content going to be, and how much will there be? I hope that the main story and side quests are long enough for the game to feel complete without the downloadable content. Also is the downloadable content going to be free or not? Once April comes around i hope some of these questions will be answered. If you have any answers to these questions, comment!
Can't We All Just Get Along?

Recently, i was on the UT 2007 forum looking through all the posts that interested me. In nearly EVERY one of them some PC gamer had to rag on the console versions... in every one of them. wtf? Come on guys lets at least be nice to the other users. So what if you have a 7800 Geforce card. That doesn't make you better than anyone else here. damn. I will admit that PC games are really fun, but they aren't superior to console games. They're equal. Can we all just stop fighting? Every time i even mention the Xbox 360 version of Half Life 2 I get ragged on. I'm tired of this. Just stop PC gamers... just stop
PS3: Doomed for Death? or just biding time?
by 215269368974565774530927642754 on Comments
The other day as I was clicking around the site, i came into an Xbox 360 games forum and something caught my eye. It was really noticable too, as the topic had approximately ten exclamation marks behind it. It said something like this: THis Game WILl ToTalLy Kill the crapstation 3!!!!!!!!!!. Now out of curiousity i went into it and saw what it was all about. This person was going on and on about how the PS3 was going to fail within the next few months and the 360 would reign as console king. I read this and i thought one thing: "this is really wrong". My theory on why the PS3 isn't doing so hot right now is simple: there aren't enough good games out. In the next year we will see tons of good games coming out for the PS3 such as Metal Gear Solid 4 (if it can somehow manage to not get pushed back into next year) and The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, which has already seen huge success on the 360.
Also, Sony has enough money to keep the Playstation line alive even if the PS3 totally bombs in the console "war". Sony has been making electronics for years and years and they have enough money to support the PS3. Another area where Sony has covered is the fans. They will buy the PS3 even if no killer apps are out right now. They're willing to wait until their favorite game is out no matter what. The PS3 also has the technology. In the next coming year games should start to look better for the PS3 if it follows the same lines as the 360. My conclusion is that the PS3 isn't doomed to die, its just biding time.
Now i'm not a Sony fanboy or anything like that, but the level of arguement between Microsoft fans and Sony fans is just getting unbelieveable. I've seen more flame wars than I ever want to see on the forums. But if theres one thing that Sony has screwed up its that they went and started shooting off their mouths about stupid stuff that they shouldn't have. Like certain Sony officials saying that the PS3 is a computer. Yeah right. The PS3 is going to be a game machine like the Wii and 360 are no matter what. Also Sony's boasting about how they would have at least a million or more units in the US by now was just foolish. They shouldn't have even commented.
Like I said before I'm not really a fanboy of Sony. I'm more of a Microsoft and Nintendo guy, but this is ridiculus. Just because the PS3 had a rocky start doesn't mean its out of the console race yet. I think that by the time later 2007 rolls around things will start to heat up, and Sony will be back on its feet.
Please Stop Making Games!! I Have Too Many Anyways!!

I'm in a pickle. I have way too many games to play and not enough time to play them. All the games on this list of mine i A) want to play more. Or B) need to finish. Heres the list
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
Earthbound
Super Mario RPG
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
GTA San Andreas
Gears of War
Call of Duty 2
F.E.A.R
Psychonauts
The Sims 2
Rise of Nations
and Black and White.
And the scary part is I don't know where to start. I think i might try to start on Twilight Princess first and then go from there. I'll probably also categorize them in order of which i want to play first. But still this is alot of games to play. I'm hoping that there will be a lag in games that I want, but the game industry just keeps on pouring out more games that i want. Games like Mass Effect, Half Life 2 for the 360, Saints Row, and many many more. I think that i really need a break from new games right now. But they're all so tempting that i can't hardly contain myself. Does anyone else have this problem? If you do comment please. Also which game should i start on first?
Psychonauts!

If you haven't bought Psychonauts yet THEN DO IT! Even though it is on the Xbox it is going to be available for backwards combatibility for the 360. This is one of the best games i've ever played. The game is driven mainly by characters and dialoge and it is really funny. The game feels really believeable and its fun as heck. PLEASE buy this game it is really great!
Think of the Single Player!!!!
by 215269368974565774530927642754 on Comments
When i was 10 me and my neighbors started a huge journey. We started to try and beat Banjo Tooie. After 2 months we finally beat the game. It took us 65 hours to beat. Now days that seems like it can't happen.
Lets face it games today are shorter than they were a few years ago. Now developers are making 10 hour single player campaigns and adding huge online options. I'm not saying that i don't like online gaming, but i can't help but think that single player is getting left behind. It seems like nearly every game now revolves around the multiplayer. The single player gets nothing. Take Gears of War for example. That game has a really disapointing single player. I was expecting at least a 20 hour game. But even Insane difficulty it isn't even remotely close to that.
The reason I want to have longer single player campaigns is because i grew up playing 70 hour long games. But video games are changing. They're definitely different than the N64 days. But whats next? What happens when we want something more than multiplayer. I think half the reason why single player is getting forgotten is because it is hard to think of cool things to do. Almost every cool idea has already been done.
Now you may think that i'm just whining. Well i kinda am. But i really think that developers need to think about the single player too.
Are Videogames too Easy?

The Problem with Videogames
by 215269368974565774530927642754 on Comments
Video games are a wonderful invention and they are very fun, but many times its just too much. Have you ever had that day where you played a game for hours and hours at a time? Because i have...several times. And its just too much. When i eventually stop playing i realise that it really wasn't worth it. For example the other day i played The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion for 5 hours straight. Once i finally turned off the 360 I realised that i really needed a break. So thats what i'm doing. I'm holding off the games till Christmas. I'm beginning to think that videogames really are addictive. But this doesn't mean i'm gonna stop playing for life. After Christmas I'll hit the videogames again.
