So far the missions and gameplay are a big step down from Blood Money but I'm only at the very beginning. The story seems interesting enough, nothing amazing. The graphics are simply stunning if you max it, just gorgeous. It gives Witcher 2 a run for its money.

[QUOTE="deershadow"]Step 1. Use a controller Step 2. Download the resolution patch Step 3. Now enjoy one of the greatest games ever maded_khan
I wouldn't call it the BEST EVER, but definatly worth spending time on, this is a healthy challenge for all HARDCORE gamers.
He said ONE of the greatest ever. Not THE best ever. Which Dark Souls is most defintely one of the best games ever made.

[QUOTE="PetJel"]6 hours lol you just ruined your own experience. if you sneak, immerse yourself into exploration and sidequests and take any effort in avoiding detection a single mission can take 3 hours.q-bert39
If you sneak, hide, and go to sleep a single mission can take 8 hours. It's a good game with an excellent atmosphere and it makes a great first impression; this is why I think reviews are so high. But after a few hours you realize the gameplay is repetitive and uninspired. A good game, worth $30-40. Not a game people will be talking about 3-5 years from now though.
Exactly. As i said you can artifically extend the game, but 9 missions is 9 missions, and each can be easily completed in under one hour. If immersion means to pointlessly spend hours and hours sneaking around, being careful as can be, when your adversary is legally blind, hard of hearing (unless you arent crouching), and has a serious issue with problem solving ("Oh god, the oil tank fell out of its receptical, WHAT DO I DO?"), then i feel truly sorry for you.
And please people, if you actually RUSHED this game, it could probably be done in 3-4 hours. I could play the COD single player in always crouch mode the exact same way as dishonored and "immerse" myself, but that doesnt mean the campaign is still only 4 hours.
I do see your point but you're looking at it the wrong way. You aren't "artificially" extending the life of Dishonored by playing it steathily, that's just another way to play the game (and imo, the more interesting way to go about it). Just give it a try, the game is much more fun playing through it without killing anyone.
[QUOTE="actiongamer1985"]In my opinion dishonored, bioshock 1, deus ex human revolution, and any thief game are outstanding. I should try system shock at some point.SavageWolverine
That is your opinion....Bioshock is average at best
The gameplay sucked compared to dishonored and Deus ex.
The story sucked...bunch of audio tapes.
Bioshock should never be mentioned with greats like Deus Ex or even dishonored
I'll agree that Deus Ex and Dishonored are a step above Bioshock but that doesn't make it average, not even close. Especially these days....
Both Dishonored and Bioshock are excellent games? And if you really want to get all elitist about it, go play System Shock 2 and Thief 2.
Let me list some of the vibes I got from this game. City design, half life 2. Stealth gameplay, Thief. Action gameplay (if you choose to go this route, I wouldn't recommend it though), Bioshock. Character design, Gangs Of New York. Atmosphere and exploration, especially in the later stages of the game, Stalker. Voice acting is top notch, story is top notch. Everything about this game is top notch.
This is easily my game of the year, all of the influences I just listed are games I consider to be some of the greatest of all time. It's very refreshing to get such a unique and high quality stealth game in this day and age, especially one with quality writing and a good story.
This game is incredible, you just need to keep playing, it will click. Not that it means much but, some of my favorite rpgs are baldurs gate 1/2, planescape torment, system shock 2, kotor, etc etc the list could go on and on and on.
Edit: You NEED a gamepad and also the dsfix.
I still haven't pulled the trigger on this game. Ive watched about every video and read about every review from players and gaming sites and still can't make it happen. Everytime I'm about to purchase, I talk myself out of it. If I wasn't in the middle of Borderlands 2 I would have already bought GW2. Or if every time I'm about to buy it I read a negative post like this and it sets me back another day.

If you want an mmo that swaps out grinding for a huge emphasis on exploration and group events, then you will absolutely love this game. Also, it's stunningly gorgeous if you can max it.
