I have always gone vertical with my first 2 consoles. #1 - RROD, #2 - "E74" , as of last week I am now going horizontal with my 3rd xbox. However I never experienced any disc problems over the years from the vertical setup, just the hardware issues. These hardware issues may or may not be related to the positioning of the xbox. I figure it can't hurt to switch it up in my case.

I just got a PS3 because i wanted a Blu Ray player and I got a deal with a tv i bought a while ago. I have been gaming on my 360 for over 2 years and love xbl. I am currently waiting for some really good exclusives to come out before I really get into gaming on my PS3. After dealing with PSN and trying to download a couple of game demos I have a new appreciation for xbl and seriously wish Sony would charge money for their service, perhaps they could make some major improvements. My connection is top of the line and it is ridiculously slow with downloads. I think the PS3 has a lot of potential and am keeping my fingers crossed that it will live up to the hype. Until then I am definitely enjoying my Blu Ray player. If I were you I would show a little patience, wait for a price drop or a really great game bundle.
If you are good at Halo 3, you will be a GOD at COD4
Both are great games each having thier own pros and cons, each requiring various types "skill," it is a matter of opinion. Buy/rent them both and judge for yourself.
LOCK THREAD PLEASE
First purchased the 360...Oblivion, then Halo 3, and now COD4 like a crackhead junkie.
Other past games include Zelda titles, Goldeneye, Mario Kart, Killer Instinct, Soul Calibur and various Final Fantasy titles
call of duty4, halo3, the orange box, assains creed, bioshock and burnout praidiseCHAOS137
yeah pretty much sums it up along with mass effect and oblivion, if you want to get some arcade games I would recommend geometry wars and marble blast ultra
