you need an okay graphics card and atleast 512mb RAM to run these things... their damn good!

well then although ive been playing games since i was 7... and ive given games like Riddick, Beyond Good & Evil and Deus Ex a chance (and loved all of them)... just because ill buy Halo3 because i liked Halo1 and thought Halo2 was kinda fun that makes ME also not a real gamer?.. Im gonna buy Starcraft II because its starcraft.. I loved the original and i trust Blizzard to make a quality game

Actually, that's not true. A 2D adventure has higher production costs because it takes longer to make. Every animation a character or object has in the game needs to be drawn for several angles, but when it's 3D a character / object you can just turn it in all directions in a matter of seconds. That's an advantage when making a game in 3D and the production cost of EMI was lower than that of CMI. Had it cost just as much to make EMI as CMI it would probably not have been greenlighted.

well when you consider that EMI had 2d backgrounds, and the character models consisted of maybe 200 polygons then youd be right.. but thats back in the day when it took like maybe 3 days to design a character model with all the animations and such.. THESE days in 3d games where the budget goes into the realm of $10'000'000 or more and it takes 3 weeks for a character model to be created, not including all the animations and physics modelling and such, a 2d production would be quite a bit cheaper and faster to produce... because i seriously doubt that Curse of Monkey Islands budget was $10'000'000

and for Curse of Monkey Island, because its 2d, and is made with drawings and such... creating high resolution 2d animations would merely requier them to scan the frames in from the drawings at a higher resolution

and with most 3d games these days, an incredibly large amount of time is spent on the creation of 2d concept art and sketches.. so i seriously dont see the point your making here.. if they were to create a 3d monkey island NOW, it would have to have production calues much higher than a 2d monkey island for its visuals to be considered acceptable... thats the disadvantage of 3d graphics... it doesnt take long for them to look dated.

If it ever happens, I wouldn't expect it to be much better than EMI...unless Ron Gilbert or Tim Schafer was making it (or both) - then it would be awesome.
