I am going on my 4th 360 and I have never paid for it to fixed. I only paid once for shipping. if your console is broken and out of warranty, I suggest that you save up and buy a core system, register it and buy a replacement plan at the store you bought it at (i.e Walmart, best buy). This way if your console does break again (which it might) you can just go back tot he store and get a replacement. Or if you get the warranty for M$, it will be the same process except it might take a week or two to get your console. The good thing about the M$ warranty is that they will ship you a box and pay for shipping both ways. Ive read a lot of these posts and it seems that many did not buy an extended warranty and they are now upset they can not get it fixed for free. It sucks that the 360 has been having hardware problems, but Im sure the hardware will improve. Ive gone through 4 360's now in just over a year. I bought a core system at walmart (paid cash, kept receipt) and I am planning to return it once I am get my replacement from M$ and I am sure that F*cker works properly. Oh I forgot to tell you. If your warranty is about to go out with M$, call 1-800-4myxbox and buy the extended warranty so you dont have to pay for a thing when it come down to it.
ALSO I WANT TO KNOW WHEN YOUJR CONSOLE WAS MANUFACTURED, LOOK ON THE BACK OF YOUR CONSOLE WHERE THE SERIAL NUMBER IS. MINE SAYS 2006-12-07 DECEMBER 07, 2006. BY TELLING WHEN YOUR 360 WAS MANUFACTURERED WE CAN SOMEWHAT PINPOINT THE BAD ONES WITH THE BAD HARDWARE.
ITS WORTH A SHOT AND IT MIGHT BE INTERESTING TO SEE.
