hi guys i uninstalled the CPU fan of my Q6600 so i can clean it then i tried puting it back on but it did not fit properly somehow it managed to stay in place now i turn on my PC everything turns on but no video on screen and it turns off after about 20 seconds ! I decided to take it to a PC store to get it fixed he said it was probably overheating and that is the reason it turned off but ater he reinstalled the fan correctly and applied thermal paste on it and on the CPU it was still not booting ! He told me that the CPU is probably toast but will try puting another one to confirm this !
Do you think when i tried installing the heatsink i may have moved the CPU slightly from it's socket or damaged it ?
One more thing the CPU is hot does it mean it's alive ?
Final thing i have an OEM version of Vista Home Premium if i put a new CPU will it afect my activation ?
Any help would be really nice i don't want my Quad to die i have been saving up just for it since it was released :(

I live in lebanon and there is not a lot of quality pc shops here so i know i am paying more than i should ! Beleive i paid 325 US $ for the 8800 Gt
the GTX is at 725 US $ .
both of them are amazing cards it's just a mater of taste both will have almost identical performance.
