@senseless_dj The walking dead's gameplay was intrinsically as simple as possible! They couldn't do anything to make it more accessible. If you could make a game with relatively complex interactions accessible, then you would be worthy of praise. (Note: I am not trying to say that "the walking dead" is not a great game; I am merely remarking upon its gameplay mechanics)
@IanNottinghamX I do agree with your view, but I think BioWare and EA have done a great job of making same sex relationship in games a standard instead of an anomaly. I don't consider EA as a totally benevolent entity, like any other corporation, but I think they must be lauded for what they are doing right.
People just make crazy assumptions and try to predict the future of a gaming system based of the number of ports and what Capcom says!
The launch titles for xbox 360 weren't that great! Ps3 just had resistance fall of man!

There is no killer app on wii U right now, we don't know Nintendo's plan for the next Zelda or Metroid, and we don't know when sony and microsoft are going to show their new systems!
@ghstbstr Wii sold well because Nintendo found a new audience; people who were never comfortable with a controller with lots of buttons!
Wii U doesn't have that advantage. It's even more complicated and intimidating than the usual controller. Furthermore, Nintendo wants to directly compete with sony and microsoft and that's tough. That was the whole point of inventing something crazy, namely "wii", after the failure that was Game cube (I mean financial failure!).
@bmben I think desensitization claim is based on this assumption that we live in the most violent era in human history, and thus we need to explain why people are indifferent to increasing violence in the society. This assumption is just statistically false; on the contrary, statistically speaking, we live in the most peaceful era.
Another issue with this claim is the idea about human psyche, that repetition would result in desensitization, and I am not sure whether you can actually desensitize people to do violent acts. Looking back it history, whenever there is genocide, like in WWII, it is not due to desensitization; people who perpetrated such atrocities, people like Reinhard Heydrich, were kind of sophisticated and civilized, and they did what they did because the propaganda machine and common sense considered the targets of such crimes as none-human.
I personally think you can actually show violence without making it desirable; and it's easy to do so because to civilized men a real depiction of violence induces a sense disgust and repulsion which wasn't around 300 year ago. That's what David Cronenberg has tried to do, and that's not at all a futile approach in creating art.
@snipper_a1 You sacrifice a portion of your liberty the moment you accept having a government! Just read Thomas Hobbes' Leviathan or John Locke's Two Treatises of Government! If you are an anarchist you can argue against the notion of sovereign, but you can't have a cake and eat it too!
