Great review, but as stated in the article, it sounds a lot like Guardians. Which i loved.

Best Star Trek episode to me was The Next Generation. The silent diplomat is telepathetically linked to his aides, who're murdered. Saw that episode over 20 years ago. That's the Star Trek i remember, or Deep space 9's diplomacy, Voyager's development of the Maquis crew into their own and holographic rights.

Into Darkness was an abomination. This sounds like a fun romp, but still waiting trek.

Different things to diffrent people and ST was this too, but built on characters and history of tackling the tough and philosophical questions.

But i love bats.
