It should appeal to everybody not just kids/families. People wan't GTA and Mario on one console. Do you realise outdated harware is an easy way to lose 3rd party support?
I feel Nintendo and it's fans are limiting it's growth as a company, there's no harm in branching out and supporting all audiences.
Yet the wii probably had the largest demographic in console history. it lost steam at the end of the gen tho. the wii u was a terrible mistake
N64 - They stuck with cartridges and lost every bit of 3rd party support.
Gamecube - They used small discs and missed out on most 3rd party games yet again.
Wii - It was the most underpowered console ever and had mandatory motion and waggle controls that 3rd parties wanted nothing to do with. It also had a laughably pathetic online system.
Wiiu - Yet another severely underpowered console with a gimmick controller.
On the software side of things they haven't created a single new quality core IP since the early 90s.
Over 15 years and 4 consoles later and Nintendo still hasn't learned why core gamers and 3rd parties want nothing to do with them.

what are u talking about? check the numbers, the n64 did great and was the better console, the cube started off slow but picked up speed near the end of the gen but its been downhill ever since.
thats a shocking turn of events. nobody can compete with madden even if they could and nba live is trash but the hockey game is the truth. this really could go either way.
nintendo and sony has literally been releasing the same games over and over again since i was a kid. with that said, i'll go nintendo because zelda/mario/metroid is the best big 3 in the biz and has been for over 25 years.
