agreed. Although the ps3 turned out to be a bit of a money pit, I'd hardly tell them to give up. They're still THE heavyweight they've been outsold by the 360 every month 4 about 2-2 1/2 years now

everybody needs to put the fanboyism aside and look at the facts. nintendo's systems have been a decade behind really since the cube. its disappointing and sad to see them go down in flames the way that they have and i stand by what i've been saying for the past 5-10 yrs. nintendo should become a 3rd party company. its the best thing for the company. i understand they are not bankrupt like sony and this will probably be the last generation of gaming unless someone like apple steps in but at the same time, the game systems they have been creating are weak and pathetic. its asinine to think they could compete at this point.
If this rumor did turn out to be true system wars would implode from all the Cow suicides. Either that or we would see thread after thread of how paying for online is perfectly fine now.
That being said I really don't expect Sony to offer free online with the PS4. The only reason they did it all gen with the PS3 is because they were constantly playing catch up. The free online was one of the biggest selling points for the PS3.

it was the biggest selling point by a long shot. everybody I know that bought a ps3 bought it for the free online, most of them eventually switched to live anyway. I bought my ps3 for a few of the games that ended up being waaaay overrated and I'm not at all a fan of there online at all.
I was going to say that. Honestly, I just didn't want to see all the replies saying how the exclusives were the biggest selling point, or that the Blu-ray drive was the biggest selling point, etc. I also know quite a few people who only bought a PS3 for the free online.
I know how u feel but I'll just ignore the fanboys. the ps3 is/was a solid system and the blu ray player is great but the majority of the ppl that support Sony (even in sw) does so because the online is free.
Fact is that Sony is going for the hardcore audience while MS is going more casual with the Kinectbox.

Haha well I don't linky facts I guess I should have said that's my opinion. It just seems like recently MS only cares about Kinect and not hardcore games.
I actually think if they could integrate kinect with bf4 and games like that, that it would help the overall experience. but I seriously doubt they would destroy their fan base of lems (and whatever y'all call ppl they play every system) by focusing on making a wii type of system. especially since the wii u turned out so well smh
