It's all theoretical and PR talk.

Fact 1: Cloud processing cannot be used to calculate cpu/gpu operations due to latency.

Fact 2: Some of those games are gonna be multiplatform. Sony isn't gonna provide the same cloud as MS. Devs are gonna go for the lowest common denominator, ie. the one with no cloud processing.

Fact 3: Utilizing the cloud will yield vastly difference experiences between someone who is connected to the cloud, and someone who isn't. Remember that some people are gonna check in once, and then perhaps go offline the rest of the day. It's ludicrous to think that all Xbox users are gonna game with silky smooth constant uninterruped connection. I'll let the 24-hour thing slide, but still, even I don't like constant connectivity. And as such, devs are not gonna make the game in such a way where it's fvcked the moment to drop off the internet.

At the end of the day, devs are always trying their best to deliver the same experience to everyone. This huff and puff about the cloud will be more of an exception rather than commonplace.

I haven't seen or heard anything about the X1 that I didn't like. Better game lineup and better entertainment options. I don't see anything anti-consumer about it. I love the fact that I can install the games to the system and never need the physical disks again just like on Steam.

The Sony fans complaining about no rentals and no used game sales are ignoring what Microsoft said. Unlike Steam, they will have a system for selling your digital copies of the games and also are planning on having some type of downloadable rentals. If anything, they are going to be more pro-consumer than Sony. The move to all digital is coming up fast. The only reason to still have physical disks is to save the initial download time for people with slow internet.

As far as the 24 hour check in, big deal. In the last 15 years, I think I have had maybe one day without internet access and that is in a very small town in Oklahoma. There are very few places in the U.S. without some form of internet that would be good enough for the once every 24 hours check in.

If you say you can't afford internet, then maybe you should be trying to find a better job instead of spending all your time playing offline only games.
