this might help: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/vista-desktopini-files-shown-on-the-desktop/vegita92

Cool, cheers for that. By the looks of it (and for some reason) my settings had changed to show all hidden files, so I've changed it back and the files are gone.

Cheers for the advice.

[QUOTE="AFX77UK"]

Have just downloaded some holiday pics from a memory stick that my missus was using to store them on and Norton picked up a security threat. Having dealt with it an restarted my comp, two desktop.ini files have appeared on my Desktop.

Anyone shed any light onwhy these files have suddenly appearedand is it okay just to delete them?

UltimateGamer95

see if you can scan them with norton to make sure that they don't contain viruses

Yeah tried that but it says they don't. Might just delete them then see what happens.

There is no reason to apogolize.

What matters is that you got it working. I hope you enjoy the upgrade.

Done nothing since except play Modern Warfare! Cheers for the advice.

Also -despite it beingkind of obvious - you connect the video cable to the new card and not the VGA outlet on the motherboard.

Hmmm, I may have made the same mistake.......

What does the video cable look like? Apologies if its an obvious question but I'm new to this and just spen 45 minutes changing the bloody PSU!

Hang on......do I need a DVI to VGA cable?

You read my mind!! I've just tried to install the 4870 and the monitor remained black so have taken it out and will now remove the old drivers and see if that works.
