tonala, I'm not even going to read that. I know the pros and cons of getting new hardware now, and later. Hence me trying to help out people, but everyone wants stuff now, instead of waiting a little longer. For myself my rig is two years old and suits my needs Shoot, its not even dual core. I'll just be getting newer stuff next year, because it will be a new horizon just like when Dual core first came out, also DDR3 will be fully supported finally, and plus the new 9 series cards are going to be phenomenal.
MetallicA53, as long as you don't get anything higher then that 8600GTS you'll be fine. If you get anything better then that you will just bottleneck the rest of your hardware making your video card useless seeing as it wont reach its max performance, etc. malificus1, you need to just upgrade all your hardware all around. with what you got in that system you will probably be able to barely player either Crysis or Bioshock at the lowest settings and any graphics card higher then that 8600 will also bottleneck your system as well as MetallicA53's coeboznia, I can hardly understand your question, but I will try to answer what you have... stated... I guess... Low performance is like the low end of the series of cards, so it would be like the 8600 and lower in the 8 series card line. And with that you wont be able to run much or even at decent settings. SteveBIRK, if your just going to be building a system Id wait for the 9 series cards to come out which will be in the next few months, and get one of those or AT LEAST wait for when they come out and the 8 series card prices drop down more. mike941, They most likely used the DELL 30 inch monitor which goes up to that high of a resolution. They have plenty of monitors that go really high, but there are only 2 30 inch monitors that go up to 2048x1536 which is the DELL 30 inch monitor and a really lame Apple monitor, which sucks really bad and has bad reviews all around.
tonala, You will need a new video card. You cant change DX hardware, it will just fuxor things up. I know you didn't say that I wanted to change my posts. I asked why ( I ) wanted to. :) And I was in a rush. I'm just taking 5 minutes out of my busy day to help some fellow peers out.
MetallicA53, I look forward to Metallica's new album. Its due to ship sometime soon I think...? I may stand to be corrected though, just word of mouth Ive heard. Anyways wait till the prices go down. If anything you'll be more entertained by having the benefit of getting a 9 series card. It wont matter if its a model lower then the flagship card, either way they will be superior to the 8 series cards and will be due to ship soon. So, basically, just wait.
Ok guys, Sorry it took me so long to reply back, Ive been busy with the HL2: DM CAL season with my clan and so forth, while shoving in WoW time with some family... Hahaha... Yurdie, The price difference between the 8600GTS and the 88600GT is simply, because the GTS is overclocked more then the GT. Why does that matter? Well fps and game quality increases and depending on what company you buy the card from, if you overclock the card yourself it will void the warranty and if you don't know what your doing you can fry your hardware too. Bobstos, Its funny that the only card from ATI that is blowing Nvidia out of the water in the Nvidia 7 series area is the 1950XTX AND that Radeon 1950XTX was made 1-2 years after Nvidia released their 7 series cards, so really... Its not that funny, because its only a matter of time before something comes out better.... Duh.... :) MetallicA53, First of all, nice name, Metallica rocks! :) Second of all DX10.1 will be coming out sometime at the end of this year. Heres a article, paste the link into your address bar: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=41577 Really, its as long as developers don't make the added features included in their games you don't have to worry. Until then, the 8 series and 2000 series cards are fine.... For now.... Tonala, I just posted a link above with that states the basics of DX10.1. Also, Id assume that prices on the newer model video cards will be the same seeing as video card prices have stayed around the same every year. I mean yeah... Overall they jump in price, but they stay within the same margin of their predecessors, so they'd probably be like how the Nvidia 8 series cards are to the Nvidia 7 series cards. Also, why would I want to edit my posts? Champmanfan, Screw the 8900 Ultras, they will be out dated within the beginning of the next year... HEAVILY OUTDATED. Just wait bro. Not much longer... Maximilitator, Donlt say you will never buy Vista. By 2008 or 2009 (One of those years, cant quite remember exactly) Microsoft will make Vista mandatory just like the Government will make HDTV's mandatory by then. Also, you will need it by the end of next year. And that X1950XTX is getting outdated pretty fast. I have a 7800GT and I'm fine with it for now, but I'm running 939 and its been phased out for a while so theres no point in upping my pc specs. I'm just going to build a new system next year with AMD Octo-Core's and the 9000 series Nvidia cards. Also guys, please read my posts, I basically answered the mainstay of the Vista question just a few messages back.
Also, I didn't say what Microsoft did. Apparently in the next service pack it will update the DX10 portion to DX10.1, making these cards almost obsolete.
Crappio, SLI is a WASTE OF MONEY, especially now, apparently since Microsoft decided to basically trash all the 8 series and 2000 series cards of Nvidia's and ATI's. Its like what they did when they released DX9.0b and then DX9.0c. They added new features which even though say for instance the Geforce4200Titanium card was a heck of a lot faster then all of the Geforce5 series cards from Nvidia, the 4000 models didn't have the shader model that the 5000 series cards had, so you couldn't play any of those games that required the shader model, such as Battlefield 2, because that game is heavy on the shader model. So basically, you can run stuff, but in the near future all these cards will be a waste of money. But if you want a card for right now, go with the single 8800GTS320mb, you'll be happier in the long run with the cash you'll save.
