I started playing WoW a couple months ago.....and love it. I played lotro for about a year, enjoyed it, but it got boring since there's only about 2 raids in the whole game, deserted servers and the PvP was horrid. WoW just offered a lot more to do and has such a massive community on the servers. But cost wise...its only like 50 cents a day. Don't buy a coffee for like 4 days out of the month and you've got your WoW fee paid.

When your trying to join someone elses game, are these your friends that are hosting them and inviting you to join? Or is it through the in-game hosts list with people already playing in a game?

Also, when you attempt to join, does it count down then time out?

Oh lol, sorry, just quickly read your post and didn't see you mentioned port forwarding :p. I havent checked in a while but I think there was a patch in progress addressing connection issue, also, is borderlands allowed access in your firewall settings?

Theres been some issues with the co-op/multiplayer for some people. For my friend and I to host and join games, we had to do some port forwarding, my guess is your having the same issue. Just log onto your router and forward the correct ports for the game, you can google for the list of which ports to forward.

Thanks for all of the responses. I agree with the people who are saying the combat and gameplay is bland. I enjoyed it at first, because Lotro was the first MMO I had played, but then after seeing WoW, the gameplay and Raids look so much more interesting and fun. As for the graphics of WoW, I think they look great still ----->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMfr7gEQZbQ

And I am on the Branywine server for Lotro, most populated server, and it is still hard to find a group who is doing the same quests. I am level 59 and still have a ton of quests from level 30-50 that I didn't get to experience, including a lot of Raids. There have also been stories on a lot of game/mmo game sites that are saying Lotro might go down the free to play road, just like Turbines other game Dungeons and Dragons online. Which will probably mean less support for the game and less expansions.

Hey everyone, I had a question for mainly people who have played both Lotro and WoW. I've been playing Lord of the Rings Online for a year now but recently WoW has been getting my attention. For the WoW players out there, and for people who have played both, I was wondering if I could have a brief overall opinion on WoW such as difficulty finding people to do group quests with, crafting system, etc. It seems that Lotro has the same type of combat mechanics going on but I'm feeling the combat feels slow and sort of "bogged down" and boring compared to WoW. I enjoyed Lotro at the beginning but after watching videos and talking to some people about WoW, I keep getting more interested in it. I was wondering how WoW compares to Lotro in in terms of :

Population, World (scenery, size of cities/towns), Economy, Finding People to group with, PVP, Story/Lore.

Also what kind of other things are there to do in the game world? For an example in Lotro, they have the music system, Deeds(completing certain tasks that allow you to gain titles for your character, and traits(stat bonuses)), fishing, collecting trophies from "boss" creatures that you can mount in your house, and leveling legendary weapons.

Now I'm not looking for an argument or bash fest between the two games, or the typical "WoW will ruin your life!" response, but just input on the difference of the games to help me decide if I should switch over to WoW.

Thanks!

I don't think lotro is dying at all. I have no problem finding people to do quests with or raids. Im not sure which server your playing on, but Brandywine always has a lot of players online.

Why would it be too late? It's FPS, join a server and shoot people.

So the problem I'm having is that when I boot my system and log into windows, everything runs fine then just freezes after about 5-10 minutes. No mouse response or keyboard response, I end up having to hard reset. But after a few times that I do this, like on the forth reboot, the system won't freeze and will run fine. Also I should note that when the sysem freezes there is no activity from the HD. So far i've run an Avast scan, Search and Destroy, CCleaner and they haven't picked anything up. I've run HD Tune and it shows that my drive is ok (still could be the drive though). Ive reseated the drive, andmemory, not video card yet though,I will tonight. I'm also going to run a memtest next bootup. All fans are good on cpu, psu and vid, im pretty sure nothing isoverheating because why would it continue to work after a few restarts?I'mjust wondering if anyone hashad a problem like this and could maybe give some pointers or any ideas. I'm thinking maybe a bad drive, or memoryor some sob virus.

My system specs are listed in my sig, and my OS is Vista 64-bit
