64 all the way. I'm not even a nintendo fan, and having played both, 64 changed me. I still remember the castle music before you'd jump into a painting/world. I played and beat Galaxy like any other game, even becoming bored for some of it. It wasn't magical.
Reminds me of that old story about a person who bought an Xbox 360 from eBay only to receive a picture of the console instead of the real deal. Fucking scam artists.

Do you even know what a conspiracy is ? At its foundation it's many lies weaved together in order to present an idea or concept, obviously different then the one(s) we would've seen otherwise. Aka public perception. Go take a psych class or two, you'll learn very quickly human beings tend lie all the time for thousands of different reasons.
Or it's possible a lot was said out of ignorance (which accounts for things everyone thinks, including myself depending on the issue).
