[QUOTE="Agent_Mac47"]I understand you and Nameless are trying to help me pick the right headset for me but it's just that I've never heard what a 7.1 headset sounds like, always thought true 5.1 were more superior. Surely the A50 are better than the A30? Money isn't an issue as long as its no more than £250... I like the look of the Astros but it seems I'd have to get the MixAmp Pro with it and it just seems too much hassle plus the Warhead seems a lot easier to deal with, set up and use. Would you still be recommending the A30 over the Warhead?BozanimalIn summary, get a better piece of equipment at a lower cost. If you can find the wireless Mixamp without any headset, get it and pair it with a headphone and mic. If you can only find it with the A30 or A40, get the package. Note that the A40 will be more comfy, but the A30 will give you better sound, in general. Happy gaming, Boz Everybody who has commented on this topic have convinced me not to get a "true" 5.1 headset what with it only having small drivers and not very good sound quality. I can only find the A30 on the Astro site for £150 and that's with the Mixamp I would just go ahead and get it but a few things that put me off buying it is that; I would have to keep buying AA batteries (even the rechargeable ones have got to be replace eventually) also the fact that there's going to be wires from the actual headset AND from the Mixamp and finally I haven't the faintest idea on how I would configure the Mixamp since ive never actually had one before. I appreciate you recommending me the A30 as the headset to get for gaming but it just seems the Warhead is more for me what with me having just an Xbox 360 and the fact that it is completely wireless and that the hot-swap-able batteries you get with the headset is great. About when Tritton say their Warhead is the 'Worlds first and truly wireless Xbox 360 headset' I think they are right but only because of the wireless chat so really you can say they just greatly exaggerated about that. At least I know that getting the Warhead I am going to get better sound quality than my old AX Pro which I've always thought sounded great but only because it's the only headset ive owned and it's obviously going to be better than tv speakers, you will probably say I would get better sound quality from the A30 and I would believe you but put your self in my position being an Xbox 360 gamer would you not just get the Warhead? Because it has everything you need from an Xbox 360 headset and the whole wireless and battery situation is convenient. Thanks for helping a fellow gamer out, much appreciated.
[QUOTE="Agent_Mac47"]Actually I have changed my mind I am going to go with the AX Pro+ because what games on the Xbox 360 supports 7.1 surround sound? I've had over 200 Xbox 360 games (including XBLA games) since it came out and I don't think any of them supported 7.1. There is bound to be a true 7.1 headset in the near future so I think I would wait and invest in one of them for the new consoles that are coming out. But as of now I think true 5.1 is really for this generation, my old AX Pro has never let me down (sound wise) so unless someone can convince me that there is a better headset out there (wired or wireless) than the AX Pro+? (I only care about the sound quality and positionality) then these are the headsets I am getting.NamelessPlayerDid you even read this gaming headphone guide I linked earlier? The AX Pros were reviewed...and considered to be utterly awful. The AX720 with its Dolby Headphone processor would've been a much better choice, and the numerous reviewed audiophile headphones paired with the Astro Mixamp Pro even better still. Yeah I read the guide, is it yours? So do you think virtual 7.1 surround is better than true 5.1 surround? To be honest the AX Pro is the only headset I've owned so I can't compare it to any other headsets but what use is it having a 7.1 headset when there's no games out there that supports it? [QUOTE="Bozanimal"]Agent_Mac, I was recommending the A30, NOT the A50. It costs far less than the AX Pro+ and offers superior sound. Nameless and I have both offered far superior and less expensive options. Do what you want; we're merely trying to help you get better results at a lower price. We don't "get" anything out of it other than helping a fellow gamer. Happy gaming, Boz I understand you and Nameless are trying to help me pick the right headset for me but it's just that I've never heard what a 7.1 headset sounds like, always thought true 5.1 were more superior. Surely the A50 are better than the A30? Money isn't an issue as long as its no more than £250. I've changed my mind yet again and deciding to get the Warhead instead (you see how I am torn between which headset to get?) I've been reading up more on the Warhead and a lot of reviews are postive about it, only knocking off marks because it's expensive and Xbox 360 exclusive (which is only because of the wireless chat integrated for Xbox 360, the sound from cans would still work with other consoles). I like the look of the Astros but it seems I'd have to get the MixAmp Pro with it and it just seems too much hassle plus the Warhead seems a lot easier to deal with, set up and use. Would you still be recommending the A30 over the Warhead?
The only games I've played are Forza and Rocksmith so I may not be much help with this question. I can hear the cars coming up behind me and I can tell which side they are on no problem, but I haven't played any shooters with it. HadOne2ManyIt's okay thanks anyway, I read somewhere that if you turn on Dolby Headphone you'll be able to hear footsteps better meaning you'll get better positionality. Ive made my mind up now I am going to get the Warhead, was wanting the Astro A50 but could only find it on their own site for £250 and there's noway I am paying that much for a headset, even the price of the Warhead is a bit much but I'll make an exception for them because I like what it has to offer.
