Thats exactly what happened to mine. I only get the red lights 50% of the time but it happens over and over again.

if you happen to have half life 2, try downloading a mod called Hidden: Source - it's pretty much your idea - some random guy is the "serial killer" (with some supernatural powers - wow o_O) which is invisible, run twice as faster, hold a knife and can do some karate chops to kill the rest of the players - a swat team wannabe, with a good arsenal with lasers to see the lab rat around, traps and of course flashlights which doesn't help o_O...

they either kill him, or they die trying to survive...

not trying to disencourage you, just suggesting you to check it out first - it's done, no more code-writing needs, it has a solid engine, etc... and you might find it fun.

going off-topic here but, yes that film is great, great footage,photography, composition and score (which by the way is the same guy who scored candyman's first movie o_O cool heh)
