Least you clarified. Most hermits are quick to say "it can be played on PC" but never specify if they bought the product in question.

Forgive me for jumping to the conclusion that if you're unwilling to pay for the console it was originally on, you're unwilling to pay for the original cart/disc ;)

mmmwksil

I have the discs and carts its the consoles that dont work anymore, if I still had the systems in working condition i would have no need to play it on PC. There are 3rd party systems but they are usually terrible build quality. So until nintendo brings out a old school system to play old carts then its PC for me.

Actually, I have this third party NES/SNES (there's also a SNES/Genesis version) that ran me $40 with two controllers. Think it was called FC Twin or something. If you're looking for something like it, I recommend.

LIIIINK please!!! I can emulate all my games but If I can stop plying in a windowed version then hell yes I would like to see this thing you have!

Illegal activity runs rampant in the hermit community, apparently~

mmmwksil

Oh yes its sooo illegal thats why I have almost bought every mario game thats come out and like to enjoy playing my console games on my PC. becasue the pieces of plastic they were made for don't work anymore.

One reason to choose a console over a PC:

Super Mario Bros.

That was easy, wasn't it?

Destructoid? Didn't they recommend a terrible build for a "gaming" computer a few weeks ago?

I think some the parts weren't even compatible with each other.

ionusX

yeah but all their stuff is done by jim sterling.. hes awesome!

Not everything is done by him, they usually get people like in this case a college student, to come in and write an "article" for the site. Sometimes they are just waaaaay of Like Kotaku and what not. Its best to stay to gamespot were the PC community knows what they are talking about or actual hardware sites. Sometimes Destructoid try to do too much.

"$500 for a new video card to run Witcher 2 on the medium graphics"

mitu123

Thats funny becasue I saw the GTX 580 at tigerdirect yesterday for only $370, and that is a top of the line GPU. average GPU price is more like 150-200 for a good card that will last you years.

That is a massive fine deal.

yup there was a massive deal yesterday for some reason but it wasnt an ASUS or EVGA card, it was a PALIT or Zotac or something. still cant beat that price though.

Found an interesting article, I have to say I disagree with some of the things adressed. Performance of Video cards vary heavily on the other system components as well. You dont just run a game off of a videocard alone. The level 1 PC noob "journalist" keeps on posting fail articles about PC gaming. ugh here you go.
